Publisher's summary

The Dark Court is no place for a lady.

After tricking the king, Tempest has finally won her long sought-after prize - a place on the king’s council - but it comes with a steep price. The king wishes for her to once again infiltrate the Jester’s Dark Court and crush the remaining rebellion.

Stuck between her duty to her kingdom and her duty to what is right, she throws herself into the assignment, determined to discover her true enemies. Slipping into her role as the Jester’s fiery plaything and personal assassin comes with an ease that terrifies her.

The charming and dangerous shapeshifter makes it too easy to forget her purpose and tempts her to join his world of depravity and eternal night. But Tempest is no man’s pawn. Her destiny was never to sit back passively.

She makes her own path. Even if it’s painted with blood, strewn with bodies, and scattered with the pieces of her broken heart.

Enter the world of the Twisted Kingdoms at your own risk where monsters wear pretty masks, good and evil are at war, and fairy tales don't exist. If you love fiery heroines, sexy villains, enemies-to-lovers romance, pulse-pounding action, mafia undertones, and dark fairy tale retellings, you need to discover the new series listeners are comparing to books by Holly Black, Leigh Bardugo, Meagan Spooner, Emma Hamm, Brandon Sanderson, Melanie Cellier, and Audrey Grey.

Holy twist Batman!

I normally pride myself on being able to guess/predict story lines and where the author might be going. But not this time! The ending of book 2, had me shook!! On to book 3!

I love this series!

I loved reading this series and was excited to see that this book was finally in audio. Listening to audiobooks has become my favorite way to reread series and this one didn't disappoint. The narrators did an amazing job of bringing this world to life and I can't wait to listen to the next one.

Double agent assassin & morally gray hot shifter

I can't get enough of this twisty fantasy world, it's so beautifully designed, I literally blink, looking around when the story is over! The book itself was fantastic in descriptions, characters, and storyline,  but when the narrarators lended their emotion and panache to the mix, the story burst to life.

Tempest, the lethal revenge-seeking assassin, now double agent, is trying to decipher her feelings for Pyre, the morally gray shifter she's supposed to hate, and then there's King Destin's heinous nature and his indecent directive. She's absolutely between a rock and a hard place, and hoping to convince some in each court to be her allies. Tempest is fantastic while trying to outmanuever The Hounds, the KING, and the Jesters court, and it makes for one heck of a roller coaster ride... and that cliffhanger at the end left me with my mouth hanging open! Complete shock! Did not see that coming... so ready for book 3!
If you like reading/listening about devious plans, shady characters with mafia vibes, Robin Hood-like band of brothers, plenty of snark, solving a mystery, cutthroat royalty, morally gray hot shifters, and sassy assassins, this is for you!

Thank you to the author for an ALC. I recieved no compensation for it and am leaving an honest review by choice.

The Rook by Frost Kay is the 2nd book in the Twisted Kingdoms series and it just keeps getting better!
Picking up where The Hunt left off, Tempest is finding herself more tangled than ever and it seems she can trust no one but herself! This is one of those stories that stays with you!! Definitely a must read!
The audio narration does an amazing job bringing the characters and story to life.

The story keeps getting better!

I really enjoyed this book! The author created an amazing world that draws you in. the narrators brought the story to life.

Tempest is still trying to do the right things. She thinks she knows who to trust, but when everyone she is close to keeps secrets from her, she makes a choice that could save everyone or doom her.

This book draws you in and you won't be able to stop listening/reading. I'm downloading book three right now.

So good!

I think I liked book 2 more than book 1. Tempest is definitely a warrior, I really like her character. She refuses to be a pawn in anyone’s game, Tempest insists on blazing her one path. She is still not sure who she can trust in this endeavor. I can’t wait to see how this story plays out in the next book!

Boring story

The story is boring and I don't like Tempest character. She walks around like she is better than others with her nose in the air and it runs me the wrong way.
