Publisher's summary

Seven vengeful sisters. Seven fairytale kingdoms. Seven daughters of Eville.

Everyone dreams of marrying a prince - except for me. I am nothing more than a pawn in my adoptive mother's diabolical plot against the seven kingdoms. I was the chosen tool, her sharpened blade that would cut the deepest into the heart of the kingdom of Baist. But like all deadly weapons, my wedding is two-edged sword that could cost me my soul.

For I am Rosalie, one of the adopted daughters of Lady Eville, and it is my duty to enter into a loveless and hate-filled marriage with the narcissistic Crown Prince of Baist. My choices and heart are not my own to give. Yet even in the thick of dire situations, beastly vengeance can give way to beautiful attraction.

OF BEAST AND BEAUTY

I really liked the book with its humor for about half of the span of the book,
Sadly the other half just went downhill after THAT, including her discovering the truth of whom she is and the fact that she is a PRINCESS, and she has other siblings as well.
Belle is a deathseeker and the PRINCE sander is a WEREWOLF
That being said the narrator did A good job with the narration and the book did end with belle and the beast together
This is a very dark tale, with a lot of hard ache, longing, and secrets and deciet that harm people when they didn't really need to.

interesting spin

I was hoping for a little bit of smut in this version
the story line was good, gave detail on the characters so you weren't lost on who was who.
I love that she wasn't scared to stand up for herself even though she was different her life growing up
I loved the connection with the rose bush and the classic movie. it gave me the dark twisty version of bell didn't know she had another family and the twin she loved in was a cover up her whole life
I wanted the beast to be more protective of her even though he wanted nothing to do with her, it would have made the romance so much better
I didn't see the twist at the end of the family drama and how how they came to be. I thought she married to her brother at first

Kept me on my toes trying to anticipate what would happen.

It's was a great retelling. Definitely dientes and intrigued on the next story in the series. No spicy scenes.

I needed this book

I had been searching for fairy tale retelling for adults for about a week. I listened to some cozy magical series but needed something deeper to sink into while painting without causing my cackles to rise too much over injustices and this one hit the mark. I enjoyed the characters as they were not annoying nor whiny or dumb. I am still on the fence about the leading man. He was a jerk lol. I’m about to que up book 2 and I expect it will keep my mind occupied so that my imagination can complete the next 2 paintings.

I have mixed feelings

On one hand, I liked the story and liked how it pulled on my emotions. When the story needed you to hate someone, you really hated someone. when you needed to be angry or needed to pity, that was easy too. The narration was also very good and I think Jesse Vilinsky helped bring out the feels the story needed.

What I didn't like was the prince. He was pretty much a judgemental and abusive jackass through the whole thing with maybe five minutes in the entire book where he acted like a decent human being. Serious rage issues. I really wanted a different outcome at the end but I guess it wouldn't be a fairytale retelling if the girl didn't end up with the prince in the end.
