Great beginning to a wonderful series

This book (and the whole series) has everything you want in youth fantasy: mythical creatures, kid heroes, villains, adventure, friendships, laughter. The narrator is perfect. So wonderful to have a fantasy series for kids without profanity or anything inappropriate. Of course, I’m an adult, and I love these stories!

Great story

The reading was alittle fast paced but the story was well written and the characters were well played. Great book for cross country road trips.

Enjoy the Ride!

The first in five books. Each one is interesting and well developed. Both the adult characters and the children are interesting. A nice vacation for the mind. Nothing too violent but whimsical and uplifting.

Great Narration and Story

Would you listen to The Lost Heir again? Why?

Yes. I would because it is a fun story and I would let my kids listen as they get older.

What did you like best about this story?

I love a good fantasy pauper to prince story. I liked the characters and how each of them were unique with their own stories and personality traits.

Which character – as performed by Jamie du Pont MacKenzie – was your favorite?

Hands down, Dani. She is a great story of loyalty and friendship. Those are good messages to portray.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

SPOILERS: I loved Jake's reaction to Dani's death and the ensuing scenes following. When they visit Beacon house. That was one of my favorite scenes as well as the frog scene. Its just well written and funny.

Any additional comments?

Overall, my FAVORITE thing about this book is the narration. It is SO GOOD. I feel fully immersed from the very beginning.

WE NEED A MOVIE

Amazing. Great story, great characters, and great narrator. It took a while to get used to his reading speed, but once I did, I couldn’t stop listening.

Entertaining

My husband and I listened to this on a long road trip around the US because reviews said it was really fun even for adults. It did not disappoint. I’m sure we’ll be listening to future EG Foley books. Fun, clean, reader did a wonderful job.

Awesome Magical Medieval Adventure

I really liked this audio book. It's perfect to listen to in the car with kids- or just by yourself! (Like I did!) It's probably one of the best 'kid friendly' books I've listened to in quite awhile. While I liked Jake, I loved Dani. She was such a great, driving element in the story line.

The narrator did a wonderful job- I love his ability to go from 'villain' to 'cocky village street kid' to ' noble matriarch' to 'hyperactive young genius.'

I noticed some reviews made comparisons to Harry Potter. This book doesn't rely much on the same elements. The only real commonalities were that they both take place in England and our hero is a young man who can perform magic. Don’t compare them.

I was provided this audio book at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.
