Publisher's summary

Grief is the price we pay for love....

A promise I kept until her....

She sauntered into my life wearing a dress the color of sunshine and with nothing else but an old Mustang and a smile. Beaten and bruised and seeking refuge behind my family’s walls. But I’m no white knight looking for redemption, and she’s sure no damsel in distress.

She’s annoying as hell. With no filter and an eternally sunny disposition. She says whatever’s on her mind, no matter how poorly judged it might be.

She’s everything I don’t want.

But she might just be everything I need.

And I don’t know how much longer I can resist her sweet smile and her sinful curves....

Because there’s only so long you can stand in the sun before giving in to its heat.

Lorenzo and Mia!!

The two narrators Michelle Sparks and Aaron Shedlock did an amazing job on this audiobook!! They really brought Lorenzo and Mia to life. I felt every emotion from grief and sadness to hope and love. Words I didn’t expect to say: I was in tears listening to this dark mafia romance! They did a wonderful job with the other characters as well. There are some super steamy scenes too!

I absolutely loved Lorenzo’s story. We all knew where this series was headed and that Lorenzo was in for a really difficult time. Anya’s passing deeply affected the whole Moretti family. When Mia shows up running from her abusive husband it really shocks Lorenzo to start to have feelings other than grief and anger.

Mia is also going through a tough time, but she puts on a happy face. She has no filter at all, and I loved that about her!! Her mouth leads to some great banter and one liners. As she starts to fall for Lorenzo she recognizes that maybe he isn’t quite ready yet. When Max deliver’s Anya’s letter to Loz I lost it. It was beautiful and heartbreaking and the kick in the ass Loz needed to start to consider living again. Mia also had a lot to work through and Lorenzo was very caring and sweet (in his mafia/dom way) and helped her start to love herself again.

Moving forward after death

Great falling in love again story for a grieving spouse. It was wonderful to read about a life moving forward after the death of a spouse with a terminal illness.

Yummy

This made for a fanny fluttering listen! The narrators were impeccable! The storyline was good. I wanted more mafia mayhem but I can see this plot too.

Great series

This wasn’t my favorite book in the series. I really wanted to hear Anja’s story, but it is very enjoyable. The narrators were amazing. Sadie Kincaids writing is excellent. Cannot wait to read more of her books.

Great book

I really love these books and the male narrator is perfect for Lorenzo. The female narrator on the other hand was dreadful. Almost to the point that I didn’t want to finish the book. She desperately needs to stop trying so hard. It’s nauseating.

This series was the first series from this author and I loved them. I will definitely be checking out her other books.

Oh, Lorenzo! 🤍

I love both Lorenzo and Mia. Although Max and Joey's book is known for its intense and passionate content, I believe this book has more depth to offer. In my personal opinion, Lorenzo stands out as my favorite among the characters.

Gut-wretchingly beautiful.

Lorenzo’s story broke my heart a little in what he was going through and how he coped or lack there of. And Mia what she has been through and still found it in her to be all good and bright. There’s was not an easy HEA but it was a beautiful one none the less. And to have Fante, Kat, Max and Joey part of this story was phenomenal. I find it fascinating how these Mafia Mega Alpha-holes are soft with their women, (Okay soft is stretching it. You get what I mean 😂) and yet as ruthless, dangerous and lethal when they need to be. Do not cross a Moretti or try to hurt what is his/hers—yes Joey I’m talking about you too! Broken is what Lorenzo was and Mia was the light he needed. Loved them together. And a really big shout out and thank you to Michelle Sparks and Aaron Shedlock for doing justice to the characters and bringing them to life.

Not My Favorite Honestly

Of the 3 novels of this series this Iis my least favorite. Lorenzo was on some BS and I wish Mia had chosen almost anyone else. Here we go.

Mia is Kat's (Dante's wife, from the first book) cousin and the most optimistic person I've ever heard of. She's been in an abusive marriage with a Boston PD cop for a decade and today is her last day taking it. She taught herself to
fix a car to get away and now she is heading to Kat for safety until she can make a new life somewhere. Sweet, talkative, and traumatized she runs up against the angry, silent, and grief striken rabid dog that is Lorenzo. She's sunshine and he's the darkest cloud and he can't resist. The female narrator has a great voice, like honey, and she is perfect conveying her emotions.

Lorenzo, the oldest of the family is a broken man. Since his wife and sub Anya passed away from cancer 2 years ago, he has been ruthless. A man who is usually dangerous made more so by the weight of his grief, asking him which way the bathroom is could end with you missing a few teeth. His last shred of humanity is left for his family ONLY. So, when Mia shows up with her annoying optimism, naive curiosity, and open heart with the rare ability to tolerate his demeanor, he's conflicted. Even after the letter from his wife he struggles to accept the happiness she offers-until she literally brings him to his knees. The male narrator was great as well.

This story hit a bit close to home for me. Mia is a survivor, growing up in a house with an abusive father she met a man just like him and married him. So, it makes sense why she was drawn to Lorenzo with his hair trigger temper and biting insults. It's what she's used to. Lorenzo is deep in grief even as he loves her he can't help but hurt her while pushing and pulling her. It seems cruel. Esp the scene after the Gala when he said that messed up sh*t to her. She didn't go back easily after but she still did take him back. If the author was going to do it she could have made him work harder, Mia deserved at least that.

Either way the series is definitely worth the credits. 🥰
