Sawyer

For the most part I’m a simple guy. I’m an Air Force pilot who keeps his head down, works hard, and tries to stay out of trouble. Problem is, trouble seems to find a way of finding me. But when it looks like Naomi Foster, I’m powerless to resist. I said I didn’t need to get involved with another woman, especially after how things ended the last time.

But I’d happily let Naomi ruin me.

Naomi

I don't mess around with stuff that overcomplicates my life. I love my career, and I love my family. Love itself, however, is overrated. It’s only ever let me down, and brought me pain and misery. But love isn’t the same as lust, and when it came to spending a night with the very handsome Staff Sergeant Powell, I said yes.

After all, it was one night. What could possibly come of it?

Heartbreaking and mending again

Sawyer and Naomi find each other for a steamy one night stand and think that the other ghosted them when in fact they both wanted to see each other again. They find a sweeping relationship, but one night changes everything. Six years later, she needs his help to save her and her brother. Can they rekindle the fiery love they once had?
This story was heartbreaking and then mending it back together again. I loved Sawyer’s passion and commitment to her and it killed me to see him lose her. But love like this doesn’t come around that often and he won’t let her go for long.

Joe Arden

Love Joe Arden’s voice and I’m glad you choose him to narrate! I found him on another book and I had to see which other ones he has narrated

Good story & great narration

I really love a second chance romance, and I enjoyed the plot/idea of this book. But towards the end I was left wanting more and I thought it felt rushed. There is a 6 year time jump, and I wanted to see more of their reconnection. To be honest I also wanted to see Naomi grovel. She had some nerve being pissed off at him when she left him because she didn't want to break up a family. And I do dislike ex-wife drama. But I love Sawyer, and I listened to the audio so Joe Arden (as always) makes everyone pure perfection. and Rose Diovoro did great as Naomi as well. Plus I really loved her brother, Eric - he had me laughing. Is there an Eric and Danica book out there? I hope so.

A novella with so much more to it than you could imagine

This novella is incredible. The amount of gasps and chills this audiobook gave me in the short amount of time is crazy. Joe Arden and Rose Dioro have such powerful voices it brings this story to life with all the crazy excitement and emotions.

Thrilling and Swoon Worthy

There were A LOT of firsts for me here: 1st romantic thriller, 1st military romance, 1st Rose Dioro narration, 1st Joe Arden narration. And let tell you… this story was incredible. When the words “Epilogue” were uttered, I stopped dreading my tracks and looked at my phone. I couldn’t believe it was over. I wanted soooooooo much more.

Military Romance

3.75 stars. This novella could've been a book with more background about the MMCs. It was still a good read! The FMC, Naomi, understandably has trust issues from her last relationship. The MMC, Sawyer, was getting over his ex. Things get messy, but fate brings them together. There was action and romance, but OW drama.

Wonderful quick listen

I love how Nicole can, even in a novella, take you on an emotional ride that had me laughing at the brother's antics one moment and crying for a character's sadness in the next. And to say this left me anxiously waiting for more from her in the future, would be an understatement. This can definitely be a total standalone read, but if she caught your attention with this one, it is time to read her entire back list.

Hate me if you want

This is not a book I would typically pick up. Based on the synopsis it isn't something I'd listen to. I bought the book because of the narration. This book feels like the bridge that's taking us to our next journey in Heart of Inferno, and I love that. Would love to spend more time with the friends I made in that series and I'm interested to see where we go, but as far as this book specifically... the only reason I bought it was Joe. Yes I know what's going on, but I refuse to be a part of this mob mentality that's happening. Like I said, hate me if you want. I don't care. I have not and will never live to make other people happy.
