Publisher's summary

No war can be fought with clean hands. Not even the ones waged for the right reasons. Not even the ones you win.

Tisaanah bargained away her own freedom to save those she left behind in slavery. Now, bound by her blood pact, she must fight the Orders' war—and Max is determined to protect her at all costs.

But when a betrayal tears apart Ara, Max and Tisaanah are pushed into an even bloodier conflict. Tisaanah must gamble with Reshaye's power to claim an impossible victory. And Max, forced into leadership, must confront everything he hoped to forget: his past, and his own mysterious magic.

All the while, darker forces loom—far darker, even, than the Orders' secrets.

As Tisaanah and Max are ensnared in a web of ancient magic and twisted secrets, one question remains: what are they willing to sacrifice for victory? For power? For love?

Contains mature themes.

Wow!

Honestly, there are no words right now. I just finished Children of Fallen Gods and I’m still reeling from everything that happened. This book gripped me even more than Daughter of No Worlds did, and I devoured it in a matter of a few days. I plan on immediately diving into the final book. The narrators continued to do an incredible job bringing the characters to life in the audiobook.

I love Aefe

I didn’t think I could love a character more than Tisaanah. Aefe’s story is… wow. What a freaking second book!!!

Still criminally underrated

It was hard to beat Daughter of No Worlds. I loved this book equally as much, and I cried a lot more. Broadbent is a phenomenal author and this is one of the best series I have ever read. This one has plot twists and new characters that you fall in love with. I do wish the narrator either had a different voice for Aefe or a third narrator because if I wasn’t paying enough attention, I’d get confused whose perspective we were in (Tisaanah or Aefe.) I followed along with an ebook which helped.

Pretty dark

This second book was really dark. Being a guy there was too much whining for my taste. like the premise, but this didn't hold me like the first. The narrator's are excellent.

I couldn’t listen anymore because of the reader

She sounds like she’s going to cry all the time and it just drives me crazy. Does the reader even know what makes humans cry? Hasn’t she lived long enough to know what actually makes people cry? She sounds like she’s about to cry all the time! I wouldn’t cry about that stuff, and I am not an ex tortured slave/warrior. I’m an overly sensitive normal person, and yet, I wouldn’t cry about most of the things this lady sounds like she’s going to cry about

I paid for the second book because I really liked the first one. There was a little bit of artificially creating drama with it almost crying voice, and there were times when the voice of Max sucks in a breath at the end of his sentences in an overly dramatic fashion, but it was something that I could ignore. And book too I couldn’t ignore it. I think I had four hours left when I decided I’m just going to get another book because I couldn’t take it anymore

I’m so sorry guys. But think about it. Your story creates enough emotions without the reader, pretending to cry! I think about if this was a script and it was being performed on TV. Think about the parts somebody would cry about. It wouldn’t be 90% of it! It would be like 2%.

There were plenty of grammatical errors too, but much to my dismay, this is not uncommon with authors these days. Don’t editors need to take English or something?

Male narrator

I wish someone would tell the male narrator that breathing with his lips around the microphone doesn’t sound as good as he thinks it does. Thank god for the female narrator. The story is excellent though.

Why doesn’t this series have more hype?!?!

Excellent story line, an elegantly executed twist that was unexpected, spice that isn’t cringy or corny, a heroine worthy of the title, fantastic vocal performances. I can’t believe this story doesn’t have a larger following. Definitely one of my favorites I’ve read.
