Story
Years ago, Tabitha Brown started a 30-day personal challenge that she called “I Did a New Thing!” The challenge was simple. Every day she would do something she’d never done before. Sometimes it was something small like trying a new food. Other times, she’d step it up a bit and speak to someone she’d never spoken to before. Still other times, she’d do the hard thing—facing a fear that she had, like having that tough conversation with a friend. No matter what it was, the point was that she was going to take a leap of faith and watch God open up a new lane for her.

America’s backstory is a whitewashed mythology implanted in our collective memory. It should come as no surprise that the dominant narrative of American history is blighted with errors and oversights—after all, history books were written by white men with their perspectives at the forefront. It could even be said that the devaluation and erasure of the Black experience is as American as apple pie. In Black AF History, Michael Harriot presents a more accurate version of American history.

Publisher's summary
From the multi-award-winning performer, author, and activist, a comprehensive program for addressing mental and physical health—and encouraging communities to do the same—featuring a conversation between the author and Lauren Von Der Pool, “…one of the people who has played an important part in my journey,” and original music transitions created for the audiobook by Common (vocals), Burniss Earl Travis II (electric and upright bass), Marcus Strickland (sax), James Francies (Fender Rhodes, piano, synthesizers, vibraphone) and Marcus Gilmore (drums).
Common has achieved success in many facets of his life and career, from music to acting to writing. But for a long time, he didn’t feel that he had found fulfillment in his body and spirit.
And Then We Rise is about Common’s journey to wellness as a vital element of his success. A testimony to the benefits of self-care, this book is composed of four different sections, each with its own important lessons: "The Food" focuses on nutrition. "The Body" focuses on fitness. "The Mind" focuses on mental health. And "The Soul" focuses on perhaps the most profound thing of all—spiritual well-being.
Common’s personal stories act as the backbone of his book, but he also wants to give his audience the gift of professional expertise. Here, he acts as the liaison to his own nutritionist and chef, his own physical trainer, and his own therapist, as well as to those who act as his spiritual influences.
Wise, accessible, and powerful, And Then We Rise offers a comprehensive, holistic approach to wellness that will allow listeners to transform their thinking, their actions, and, ultimately, their lives.
Supplemental enhancement PDF accompanies the audiobook.

It’s not just you. Stress levels are at an all-time high—so much so that a recently convened panel of medical experts in the US has recommended that all adults under the age of 65 be screened for anxiety. In How to Release Anxiety, Gabby Bernstein offers simple, actionable steps for feeling better, living with more ease, and showing up for those around us. Gabby’s unusual advice: Rather than manage your anxiety, what if you befriended it? Gabby posits that what we befriend, we can ultimately be at ease with. So she invites us to get curious.

From the very first page, Common's words effortlessly draw you into his world, where he shares his personal experiences, struggles and triumphs with raw honesty and vulnerability.

One of the most remarkable aspects of this book is Common's ability to weave together his personal narrative with larger societal issues. He fearlessly tackles topics such as racial injustice, inequality and the importance of education….shedding light on the systemic challenges that many face. His words are a call to action, urging readers to rise above adversity and strive for positive change in their own lives and communities.
Common's prose is poetic and lyrical, reflecting his background as a renowned musician and poet.
