Weirdest story ever

This has to be the weirdest alien invasion story I’ve ever heard of but it does have some good action and some intense scenes that make it enjoyable

Definitely had me wondering what is happening.

This is the first book I've read/listened to by Brian Yansky. It's not my normal genre, but it was entertaining. I kept guessing throughout what might be happening, but didn't come close to what was going on.

Victor Warren and Barbara Henslee are new to me narrators. Both performances were well done. Their voices were perfect for the parts/genre. This audiobook rolled like a movie in my head.

Marvelously entertaining sci-fi

Something really strange is going on in the isolated town of Egypt, Texas: snow in August, a mayor acting suspiciously, and none of the vehicle motors are working.  Also, a strangely high number of citizens have always had minor psychic abilities.

I loved this sci-fi book from the very first minute to the last.  Everything was excellent: the characters, the mystery, the action, and the cool plot twists.  The situation is somewhat dystopian, but quirky protagonists with a sense of humor and an adorable dog named Velcro lightened the mood.  Some clever pop culture references and great comic timing from the narrators enhanced the entertainment value.  Throughout the book, I had the feeling that not all was lost.  This first installment of the trilogy ends at a good pausing place with only a small cliffhanger.  I can’t wait for the next book.  I highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who likes sci-fi with action, mystery, and humor.

The story is told from the perspectives of about five characters, with about 50 percent from the sheriff July Jackson and 35 percent from his lady deputy’s perspective.  July Jackson is intelligent, wise, moral, compassionate, and good at his job.  I love his character, especially when delivered in an excellent performance by Victor Warren.  Both narrators were really good, but Victor Warren really excelled with his gravelly voice, Texas accent, and nuanced superb narration of this entertaining book.

I requested and received a free review copy, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.  #TheFlockVIPReviewTeam #FiresideAudio
