Publisher's summary

Ryan: I'm the newest Captain of the Devils, Chicago's NBA team, and the last thing I needed this year was for Indy Ivers, my sister's best friend, to move into my apartment. She's messy, emotional, and way too tempting.

But when the team's General Manager vocalizes his blatant disapproval of my promotion to Captain, referring to me as an unapproachable lone wolf with no work-life balance, I can't think of a better way to convince him otherwise than pretending to date my outgoing roommate. The only problem? Faking it feels far too natural.

Indy: I never imagined I'd be living with my best friend's brother, NBA superstar Ryan Shay. Even more unbelievable? He needs me to act as his loving girlfriend who's suddenly changed him into a friendly and approachable guy.

Soon blurred lines make it almost impossible to separate real from fake. Falling for my roommate was never part of the deal, especially when Ryan is quick to remind me that he doesn't believe in love.

I'm a romantic and can't help fantasizing that he'll change, but soon enough, I find myself questioning if sharing a roof with my best friend's brother was the right move after all.

Contains mature themes.

Annoying narration

The story was good for 80% of it. But the final “crisis” was kinda dumb. And both narrators were horrible with opposite gender main characters and side characters.

Beautiful and spicy

The damaged and complicated leading men, the strong and determined yet vulnerable leading ladies, the found family dynamic and all the amazing athletes interconnecting, the layered and soulful chemistry she creates, the delicious drama and swoony moments and ALL THE SPICE! I binged the whole series in like a week. Of course, I read them all out of order, but every book is a beautifully written, emotionally gripping, and 100% addictive. I just FLOVE them.

I also just re-read The Right Move on audio, and I loved the beautiful love story between Ryan and Indy even more the second time around. Indy is my soulmate heroine- her journey with her fertility, her personality quirks, her determination paired with her softness, it just resonated so much with parts of my own heart and soul. And I will never stop loving how Ryan opens up to her, falls for her, and gah the epic gestures big and small! The audios are great for those who love audio!

Such a pleasure to read

This author knows how to make the perfect men. The characters were so well developed, and I’m glad we were able to see the characters from the last book

Ryan MF Shay. Yes please.

Ryan Shay gets all the hype for a reason!! The king of small gestures, the way he quietly loved Indy had me swooning. And Indy?! I want to be her best friend. The narrators also did a phenomenal job!

Ryannnnnn

I feel cheated out of my very own Ryan. I cannot stop thinking about this story and have actually listened to it back to back because it’s that great. I can’t move on to a new book because I’m mourning this one lol I love Ryan Shay. If he were real, what I would give lol

Cute Sports Romance

So I liked this book, but I wasn’t head over heels in love with it. It’s definitely a cute story with found family elements, but I didn’t feel obsessed with the story.

We begin this story with Ryan, (Stevie’s twin brother from the first book in the series) who is the newly appointed captain of Chicagos basketball team. He is very focused on staying 100% in the game with no distractions. His sister, Stevie’s, best friend/co-worker Indy needs a place to stay after going through a horrible breakup before the start of this book. You can probably guess where this is going. Indy moves in with Ryan and they slowly get to know each other over the course of Ryan’s basketball season.

The narrators did a pretty good job, but the FMC was driving me crazy with how she elongated the words at the end of almost every sentence. Just a personal preference. I thought she did a great job with all of the male parts and when reading for other female parts. I recommend listening to the sample first just to make sure it doesn’t bother you!

The story was really cute, but it is very very long! I listened on 1.5 speed and it still felt like it took forever for anything to happen.

Tropes:
Best friends brother
Forced proximity
Fake dating
Sports romance (professional basketball)

TW: infertility

Story was amazing

Made my heart happy! The way that Ryan loves is amazing! Every person deserves this kind of love and caring. Ryan is thoughtful and brilliant.
