Publisher's summary

If you love mysteries with action, suspense and a touch of humor and romance, then the David Wolf series is for you.

Foreign Deceit

Sergeant David Wolf of the Sluice County SD headquartered in the ski resort town of Rocky Points, Colorado, receives word that his brother has committed suicide in the Alps of Italy.

The Silversmith

Deputy Sergeant David Wolf has been waiting sixteen years for today's opportunity to follow in the footsteps of his late father and become Sheriff of the Sluice County SD, headquartered in the small ski resort town of Rocky Points, Colorado. What he's offered, however, isn't quite what he's expecting. And for Wolf, refusing turns out to be harder, and much deadlier, than he could have anticipated.

Alive and Killing

Just for a day, Colorado Sheriff David Wolf trades slogging through murky meltwaters and even murkier small-town politics for an overnight camping trip in the wilderness with his son.

But when a man with fresh burns turns up on their trail, falling from the heavy load in his backpack and running wild from something, Wolf suspects his father-son camping trip may have just taken a turn for the worse.

Deadly Conditions

The small town of Rocky Points, Colorado has just been hit with an epic snowstorm. When the snow removal process uncovers a dead body — a young woman brutally murdered and clearly marked with some sort of cryptic message — Sheriff David Wolf and his deputies are left scrambling to find a killer before he strikes again.

Glad I bought the boxed series!

I bought the series because I could get 4 books for the price of one. The first book was good, but if it wasn’t sold as a set, I would not have bought the rest. That’s because the first book ends dreadfully. This is one of my pet peeves with writers. When a writer ends a book without a satisfying ending, I usually do not buy a second book. However, since I was able to move right I into the second book, this was not a problem. As for the stories themselves, there’s a lot of gunslinging action and Wolf gets more than his fair share of breaks when his life is on the line (as it often is,) but I enjoyed the series.

Interesting Four Volume Collection

David Wolfe is an ex-military special ops soldier pursuing a law enforcement career as the Deputy Sergeant of a small town in the hills of Colorado. He has a young son and an ex-wife both living in the same town. His wife is a recovering drug addict and Wolfe is hard at work trying to prove himself in order to be considered as the next sheriff as the current one is retiring.

With this background, we enter into a four novel set of his crime fighting duties and personal life. All four stories are enjoyable listens following Wolfe's career as it progresses. In the first novel, Wolfe's life is interuppted with with the discovery that his younger brother, a novelist, residing in Italy has committed suicide. Wolfe travels to Italy to bring back his brother's body only to find out his death appears to be more than a suicide. Working his way through the local Italian bureacacy and the language barrier, Wolfe struggles through the clues with the aid of a young policewoman assigned to him. Eventually, Wolfe solves the crime and returns to the US

In the second novel, Wolfe quickly finds he has a bitter rival for position of sheriff that is to be voted in by the town counsel. Not only does the vote not turn out well for Wolfe, he also has to endure the wrath of the new sheriff and his father. To make matters worse, his ex-wife returns to town with a new boyfriend in tow. With the father of the new sheriff up to no good, Wolfe has to investigate and solve a twenty year old murder.

In the third outing, Wolfe is hoping for a pleasant camping trip with his son. Wolfe and son find themselves being shot at and Wolfe wounded. What follows is another small town murder mystery for Wolfe and his cadre of deputies to unravel. This time, Wolfe receives the aid of a smart attractive FBI agent.

For book 4, Wolfe discovers his ex-wife has stopped seeing her boyfriend and Wolfe slowly rekindles their relationship. A large snowstorm uncovers the body of a local woman and Wolfe is off again to solving another murdery mystery steeped in local politics.

All in all, the four novels were enjoyable listens and Sean Patrick Hopkins did a fine job narrating. If you are looking for a bargain priced fun romp in the mystery genre, the Wolfe series would be right up your alley.

Quite Interesting

What I found enjoyable about these books was the detailed descriptions that help me visualize the characters and what they were thinking and doing.

The narrator Sean Patrick Hopkins seem to make the story come alive in different ways. I got the impression that he was having fun reading the book to all of us.

One of the Best Stories

It is a very good long story and the performance is the best that I have ever listened in audible books.
