Publisher's summary

It's been years since the Gray Man's first mission, but the trouble's just getting started in the latest entry in the number one New York Times best-selling series.

Before he was the Gray Man, Court Gentry was Sierra Six, the junior member of a CIA action team.

In their first mission, they took out a terrorist leader, at a terrible price. Years have passed. The Gray Man is on a simple mission when he sees a ghost: the long-dead terrorist, but he's remarkably energetic for a dead man.

A decade of time hasn't changed the Gray Man. He isn't one to leave a job unfinished or a blood debt unpaid.

Exciting read.

Twist and turns, however I was not a big fan of the constant 12 year flashbacks every other chapter. Essentially 2 stories in 2 decades in one book.

There’s not a bad book in this series.

I (im)patiently wait for every new book in this series. While I’m not usually a fan of timelines that jump back and forth repeatedly this one is easy to follow. We get the origin story of Gentry as Sierra Six as well as some current day Gray Man action. No spoilers. And as usual you’ll get the Clancy-like attention military detail and location that makes this series feel much more authentic than a lot of other books in this genre. We also get another masterful performance from Jay Snyder who has kept the individual characters voices as consistent as a Swiss watch throughout the entire series. Buy the book.

Courtland

This was not the best Grayman. The conclusion felt rushed, incomplete and left some questions unanswered.

Great read

As always Greaney score a home run.
Sadly I have to wait till next February to get the next book.
Character development and story line was spot on
Liked the past / present -
Like two adventures cliff hangers running Simultaneously.

Suspense Disruption

Mark Greaney is one of my favorite authors, and the Gray Man is one of my favorite series. That said, this was one of his least suspenseful books primarily due to the constant timeline change. The book alternated between a story in present day and one 12 years ago. Each story could have been developed to stand on its own, but both were incorporated into this one book. If the stories had to be combined into one book, I would have preferred the story from 12 years ago be covered in the first few chapters or added as a prelude then proceed to the present day story. In general, I'm not a fan of books that switch back and forth between timelines. In the case of this book, I found the timeline switch disruptive to the suspense that Greaney creates so well in his writing. Just when I waiting to see what would happen, the book would switch to the other story and all of the suspense created would be lost. This interrupted the flow and pace of the book.

As always Jay Snyder was great. He is one of the best in the business. I can't imagine a Gray Man audiobook without him. I'd give him 10 stars if I could.

Interesting back and forth

The back and forth between 12 years ago and current time was an interesting twist for this book. I am a big fan of the grey man and this book did not disappoint. Happy to read it and looking forward to future stories.

Beat Gray Man book so far. Excellent job all the way around. Good to find out Courtlands beginnings. Also, good transitions back and forth.

Another outstanding performance... Next

If this is your first Gray Man book then feel free to get it. There are many references to the past that fit fine into all the other books. And if this isn't your first Gray Man book, and you're reading this review, don't waste anymore time. Get it. You won't be disappointed.
