It’s exhausting to live with your mind racing around from one dreadful possibility to the next, even when you know logically that a lot of these thoughts are unrealistic or at least unlikely. Logic quite often has nothing to do with it. It’s thinking that has got you into this mess, and more unhelpful thinking is simply not the answer. Unfortunately, it can be hard to stop once you get yourself into the spiral of overthinking. Your thoughts can get ahead of you, blocking you from your own mind and distracting you from what really matters.

There has been much debate over how we got here, and what to do next, and bestselling author and social psychologist Jonathan Haidt is at the white-hot center of that discourse. Haidt has spent his career speaking wisdom and truth into the most difficult landscapes—communities polarized by politics and religion, campuses battling culture wars, and now the perfect storm contributing to a public health emergency for Gen Z.

Only the paranoid survive
I remember when I was a kid there was a lot of education and drills around a full on nuclear war with the powers in the east. We practiced drills like duck and cover as ifthat would have done anything with nuclear fallout. Luckily those days are long gone and hope they stay that way. But with the way things are in the world, it's hard to know what's around the corner, so it helps to be prepared, even basic knowledge can go a long way in the event of a fallout.

What if –
Nobody likes to think about or talk about nuclear war, but in today’s world climate, the unthinkable is a real possibility. Are you prepared to survive? The answer to this question is probably not unless you’re a prepper, people I used to laugh at. But not anymore, with the great information in this book to use as a guide, I am now going to start doing some of the things described in this audiobook. It’s a wealth of knowledge to have so you can be more prepared in case of nuclear fallout or for any disaster that may come along.

An Essential Tool for Planning in Uncertain Times
The subject matter is thoroughly covered which is one of its strongest points. The author provides a full explanation of radiation science as well as the possible effects of nuclear fallout. I was able to understand the seriousness of the issue and determine my own safety thanks to this scientific basis.
