Publisher's summary

Fake dating my best friend? Total disaster.

With his cocky grin and devilish charm, firefighter Lee Sullivan makes every woman in our small town swoon. Every woman except for me.

Which is why I’m shocked when he steps in at the town’s Matchmaker’s Gala and outbids my crush during the charity auction, committing us to six prearranged dates.

Six dates where we, very publicly, pretend to be falling in love.

Despite my objections and our efforts to set each other up with other people, Lee is convinced pretending to date each other is the perfect opportunity to get the women in town off his back (and out of his bed), while also helping to nudge my noncommittal crush in the jealousy department.

Stupidly, I agree.

After the disastrous blind dates he set me up on, what’s a few months of letting Lee worship the ground I walk on? He owes me.

Trouble is—every fake kiss, every lingering touch, every filthy word he whispers when no one is around—is starting to feel very, very real.

We know everything about each other—from my orphaned past to his irrational hatred of dolls. The only secret I have ever kept from Lee spans all the way back to his time in the army and it’s the one thing that could ruin our friendship forever.

Because where Lee is concerned, I have learned to guard my heart. Suddenly, he’s asking for the opportunity to feel something real. He’s asking for the one thing he wouldn’t want if he ever knew the truth: one chance.

Annie & Lee

Best friends to lovers romance, but they have really both been in love with each other the whole time. I loved the dynamic of their relationship. Steamy. Sweet. Loved it. Definitely recommend!

Great story

Loved this book and the story line. I was really disappointed in the male narrator. He lacks emotion to the story. He was very dry when speaking. I was more connected to the female narrator for this book in the series. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Lee & Annie!! Meant to Be!!😍

One Chance is the third book in the Sullivan Family series by Lena Hendrix, featuring a fun friends to lovers/fake dating romance for Lee and Annie!! Annie has been secretly in love with her best friend Lee forever, but he never noticed her, until she seems to be interested in someone else. When they need a way out of their quirky town’s Matchmaker’s Gala and Date Auction, Lee bids on Annie, thinking the 6-date competition will help Annie and the fake dating will protect him from unwanted attention. But as each touch starts to feel more real, is one chance all they need for true love!

I was so excited to return to the quirky town of Outtatowner, full of amazing characters, drama, a feud, and plenty of love. I loved Lee and Annie’s friendship and the profound bond that they share. She is such an inspiration FMC with such a quiet strength and a heart of gold in spite of the terrible way she grew up. Lee may not have always been a choirboy, but Annie is clearly his person! I love them together, especially their passion! So HOT!! The story comes with some real emotions, secrets, and more building suspense about the Sullivan/King feud!!

I listened to the audio version narrated by Ryan Hudson & Charlotte North, who both did an amazing job portraying these characters, whether it was a funny scene with banter, a deeply emotion one, or a fiery romantic scene! I could especially listen to Ryan Hudson all day long!!😍 I can’t wait for the next book of the series!

Loved the FMC

This was a really good book and the FMC had a great personality and character. The book had humor and s*xy times and cute times and the story was cute. However, I just really didn't like the MMC; he was selfish and self centered and kind of a tool. Annie was so kind and literally did everything for him and supported him and treated him like gold and was always there for him through their whole lives, and the first time she upsets him he turns his back on her and shuts her out and doesn't hear her out. Lee was so frustrating; he wouldn't listen to her and just constantly interrupted and shut her down when she'd try talk. He literally wh*red around for years and thought he could act jealous the minute someone showed Annie attention. IDK for some reason his whole character and his reactions were off-putting to me and I felt like Annie deserved better. I would have liked for her to have moved on after he shut her out for something so minor. At the very least he should have had to work harder to get back in her favor; it was too easy for him and that really annoyed me. It should have been him groveling and apologizing.

That said, I still enjoyed the book and would recommend it. It's cute and kind of a feel good story. I also loved the narrators for the audio book. They helped make the book as good as it was.

The male narrator was so hard to listen to

The story itself was okay, except for all the Margo drama, which I thought was utterly boring, but the male narrator is so bad, making it very hard to get through this book. The dialogue wasn't bad, and if he narrated like he spoke the dialogue, it would've been fine. Narration should sound like inner dialogue but instead, there were weird, unnatural patterns and a monotone that made me cringe.

Small Town Romance

This book dragged on! I wasn't feeling Annie and Lee’s relationship. The lack of communication was ridiculous! There isn't OW drama but the death of an adopted sister of Annie and Lee’s ex. The auction dates were silly. I'm glad I finished this small-town romance is over.
