Werewolves and Mad Scientists

Lex Luthor and The Joker have nothing on Mika Lenna when it comes to Archcriminal Mad Scientists. A thoroughly self-centered, self-important, powerful, and nasty villain, he pursues his quest to create monsters and become ever more powerful in his own person over the span of four novels neatly boxed for you so you can blithely skip from one to the next in your own pursuit of enjoyment. I have had the pleasure of listening to the AUDIO in which narrator Elizabeth Klett captures a range of accents from Cockney to German with various U.S. regional dialects thrown in as she explores the personalities and enhances the action as nimbly written by author Sarah Noffke, with style and wit. There is something here for everyone, from werewolves to dream travelers, an underwater facility of superheroes and a hidden-in-plain-sight superlab responsible for creating superhumans and the afore-mentioned monsters. A delightful romp!

Fun Series!

Twelve men are abducted and turned into werewolves by Olento Research. When they are finally able to escape, it's up to the Lucidites to find them before they are recaptured and used for evil purposes.

It can be a bit daunting to delve into an audiobook of this length. The story was so fun, fast-paced and laced with action, humor and a little romance that I was engaged throughout. I especially enjoyed the lively banter between Rox and Adelaide, two tough as nails agents working for Lucidite. I think that they were the real heroes and I love to see women that aren't easily intimidated. Since there were so many characters, I was glad that the escapees were introduced separately so that I could keep up with everybody. With more than 20 characters, the narrator did a phenomenal job giving each one a unique voice and she moved the story along quite nicely. I really enjoyed Olento Research Series Boxed Set and would recommend it.

A good series of supernatural beasts.

I received a free copy of this book from the author / narrator / publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

Alpha Wolf was showing on my audible homepage for quite some time, but I wasn't sure whether I would like reading another werewolf story. The last werewolf story I had followed (Teen wolf on MTV) had left me disappointed. So, I was going to pass on this. But when I got the entire boxed set of this four book series, free, for a review; I jumped at the opportunity. And, oh boy, I am glad I did.

In this series, the werewolves are created on purpose in a lab and then they break out of the said lab and create havoc. The CEO is hell bent on getting them back and there are agents who want to save the world from both kind of threats. On the surface, it's pretty feeble plot. But the author's writing prowess and the well built characters give it strength. And I'm surprised to see that all four books are more or less interesting. I couldn't definitively say that book #1 is better than 2 or 3 is better than 4. All four book are equally nice.

I do have to warn you though that you should start this series only if you can commit to reading all four books, because the first three books end in kind of a cliffhangers. The individual endings won't make much sense unless you read the books in order and finish all 4 books.

A wonderful collaboration between author&narrator

Alpha Wolf. After reading 16 books from author Sarah Noffke, the most recent being the concluding book in the Kurtherian Gambit series. You'd think I would be used to her writing, NOT. I'd gotten this book back in October & never gotten around to reading it, my loss! I started the book & liked it so much I went out & got the box set so I could continue reading the series.
Lone Wolf. My seventeenth read from author Sarah Noffke, this book is as good as anything I've read from her. She's rapidly become one of my favorite authors.
Rabid Wolf. My eighteenth read from author Sarah Noffke, she's rapidly become one of my favorite authors.
Bad Wolf. My nineteenth read from author Sarah Noffke, & the concluding book in the series.Noffke has rapidly become one of my favorite authors. Well, I don't do spoilers so you'll have to buy the book (series), read the books (series), get into a good author, some good characters and good books as I have. I do have to say that after getting the audio box set while reading book one the Brit narrator (Elizabeth Klett) was incredible & added greatly to my enjoyment throughout the remainder of the 4 books. Enjoyed this wild ride into another adventure.

Enjoyed listening to this energetic story. There is plenty of action and tough snarky women then add evil genius and you have an engaging story. The narrator did a very good job. I voluntarily reviewed this audio book after receiving an advanced copy.

Worth your time - very enjoyable series

Great series. Just do yourself a favor and get the series. You won't be sorry. It's definitley worth it. Even though I had previously listened to the first book in the series I jumped at the chance to listen to the complete series in one boxed set. I think I enjoyed Book 1 even more the second time around. It pulled right in once again and held my complete attention from start to finish. I was irritated anytime I had to pause the story and couldn't wait to get back to it. Even after 24 hours of listening to the whole series I still wanted more.

It's a well written, creative, entertaining and very enjoyable series with plenty of mystery, intrigue, suspense, humor, great characters and even a little bit of romance. Bottom line its just a darn good series.

Great cast of interesting and unique characters. Especially loved Rox and Adelaide. Love strong female characters who are confident in themselves and can hold their own.

Elizabeth Klett does a great job with the narration. Pleasant voice that is easy to listen to for long periods of time. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. Really good character voices and accents. All of them. With just a slight change of tone and cadence her male voices are also really good. I'm glad she doesn't try to do an overly deep male voice. So many narrators do that and the characters end up sounding like idiots. Her male character voices were perfect. She was able to bring the characters, their emotions and the story to life. Very enjoyable.

Chapter 31 of 4th book recording is messed up about 3 min 45 secs into chapter.

A howling good listen!

All four books are wonderful and the narrator does a fantastic job. It was nice to have all four books this time instead of listening to just the first book that leaves you hanging, although this one does leave a small opening most of the characters issues are resolved. Although it is four books, it is really one long one and it is excellent. Men are abducted by a mad scientist for and turned into werewolves, the scientist also makes other creatures xman style Another group tries to contain the men and use them for good. A unique good guys vs bad guys supernatural story. Some of the characters you love to hate but they have reasons for their abrasive personalities. Definitely a good listen, and I hope to find more in this series! The narrator does a wonderful job with each character, excellent at accents, and personalities! Great follow up to Lucidites

This box set is a fun follow-up to the Lucidites series, and although the reader can enjoy this story without first reading the Lucidites, it's probably best to read them in order. I have yet to read the Ren books, which would also be helpful to read first.

Regardless, if you're a fan of paranormal fiction, in particular shifters, you will enjoy this box set. There is a little romance, but the focus is primarily on the mystery and action, and the story is appropriate for teens and young adults. It's engaging from the very beginning and keeps the reader interested throughout. I finished the set in less than a week. I highly recommend buying the set instead of the individual books, because there is no sense of an ending in the first three books.

If I had to choose between this set and the Lucidites, I'd say the Lucidites was the better of the two overall; however, I enjoyed reading -- and recommend--both.
