Publisher's summary

An unexpected gift offers the power to change everything. Keeping it could cost Diem her life.

The threat of war has arrived at Diem's doorstep, along with a new discovery that could save her people. To use it, she must survive the next thirty days by forming a devil's bargain with the people she hates most: the royal family of House Corbois.

As she dives into the world of the Descended elite, Diem quickly realizes good and evil aren't as simple as they seem. Old prejudices are challenged, and new loyalties blur the line between friend and foe.

Meanwhile, her mother is still missing, and the secrets she left behind can no longer be ignored—and neither can the Guardians and their demands. Caught between an old flame and a sizzling new spark, Diem must confront the truth about who she is and what she wants before time runs out.

War is coming, and dangerous enemies wait on all sides... but the most deadly battle Diem faces may be the one for her heart.

Glow of the Everflame is the second book in The Kindred's Curse Saga, a four-book epic fantasy romance series that follows our feisty, bad*ss heroine Diem Bellator in her fight against injustice and oppression, her struggle to survive in a royal palace full of betrayal and intrigue, and her journey of self-discovery and finding true love.

Blown away!

This book has everything! So well done and addictive I consumed the first 2 books in a weekend. My feelings are hurt that I have to wait for book 3!

Chill, Diem

Good grief! The main character Diem is so frustrating that I want to shake some sense into her. Can she just NOT be so MUCH? That said, I really liked the story and supporting characters- good guys and bad. Diem just makes the worst choices every step of the way. The narrator was good for the most part, but still sounds “spitty.” The first book was worse.

Almost a 5

The story and world building are great…the protagonist…too immature to the point that I almost stopped listening. Diem is narcissistic and whines to distraction. The rest of the characters are interesting and engaging, which makes me question why they put up with Diem. I’m all for hartia and a flawed, believable character, but as someone who teaches HS students, Diem’s behavior reminded me why I don’t teach middle school. The reviews for book 3 describe her making stupid mistakes for 600 pages. Sigh.

It’s ok

While the last 2 hrs of this book are pretty good it’s the first 18 hrs that are questionable. Diem is quite possibly the most irritating fmc I’ve read about in a long time. Like how selfish yet self loathing can 1 character actually be. The pity party she throws herself through 90% of this book is almost irritating

Some Wobbles but Filled with Potential

There is a lot to enjoy in this series. The world building and supporting characters are fantastic. The MC gets a little weak and wobbly in the middle, failing to be consistent in her morals and ideals, but that seems to improve by the end if the book, a trend I hope continues and fortifies in the next one as a redemption arch.

My New Favorite Series!

I loved the first book and listened to it twice, but this book was amazing! This is now my #1 favorite series. Luther is my new book boyfriend!

The writing is great, the story flows seamlessly, my attention was kept, and the slow burn is tantalizingly maddening. While this book is fairly long, I was sad and disappointed when it ended.

This is definitely a series that I will re-read because of how much I enjoyed it the first time.

My other top series favorites similar to this one:
ACOTR by Sarah J. Maas
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout
The Malediction Trilogy by Danielle L. Jensen
The Folk of the Air by Holly Black
The Tainted Accords by Kelly St. Clare

Happy reading!

The cliff hanger is killing me

I loved the performance by the reader. It was the first audible I’ve listened to that didn’t have me distracted by their pronunciations. As many others have said the overall story is great! The MC did get a little disappointing at points but definitely started to redeem herself towards the end.

Keeps getting better!

Loved book 2!! I’ve loved the MC’s journey in this book. Lots of ups and downs and tension throughout. But I like that kind of turmoil. Her journey reminds me a lot of Nesta’s in ACOSF. Can’t wait to dive in to book 3!!
