Publisher's summary

As the oldest of three girls, Renee at a young age knew she was born into a special family of women. These women are blessed with unique gifts from God but others may disagree. Although Renee, Leah, and Tiffany were born in Georgia, their family roots were planted in New Orleans where the Creole cuisine fills your soul, the swamps run deep with blood and voodoo is a religion to some.

At the age of 13, Renee’s life is forever changed as well as her sister’s. Family secrets are revealed: Broken friendships, sexual assault, and even murder all while testing the family’s faith in God. But her family has something that others don’t have...a chance to get even in the worst way and no one would ever know.

Do you wait on the Lord to fight your battles or do you take vengeance and worry about consequences another day?

Boring

I truly struggled to get through this book!! it moved so slow, and the build ups to nothing were aggravating 😒. This could have been such a better story, the story line has good potential. But a lot of fluff!! Like a Tyler Perry television series! Narrator definitely didn't help at all!!

too much side details

The story was too distracting. what was the point of this story? Background for later stories?

umm over promise under deliver

Had to make myself finish. Although the story was ok, there was a lot of unnecessary dragging out. There wasn't a clear line of where the story was going. AND THEN IT ENDS ABRUPTLY. The story ends with lots of unfinished loose ends with no book 2.

Loved it!!!!

I really loved this book. The family reminded me of how my southern family use to be. The way we use to get together and be so close. As the elders have passed on that seemed to slow down. I love the respect they had for GramT. I loved the many secrets that were revealed. Our families hold sooo many secrets, and often times they are never revealed. I often say I wish I was a fly on the wall. This read envoked so many family memories. I took away one star because I do feel there was something missing, but I can't quite put my finger on it. on to book 2. praying it doesn't disappoint !!!! 🙏🏾 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Also, were some weird pauses during the audio, which was a bit annoying.

Awesome

This book was amazing....Growing up in the south myself, I could recognize the charm, beauty, and fierceness that many of the women in my family possess. I really hope this becomes a series!!!!!!!

Enjoyed the book

The story was good, my favorite character is Tiffany she had me laughing. But in the epilogue there's no mention if Eric made it. Too much left open. Sounds like there will be a book 2.

Basic, Bland and Yaw!!

No great story. Story line weak. Characters flat. Narrator basic. Struggle to listen too. Credit wasted.
