Story
Exiled, excommunicated, and with a bounty on his head, Athelas is lying low in Seoul for exactly one reason: he has a wedding to attend. Whether or not he's welcome is another matter. Luckily for Athelas, several bodies have turned up with their soft insides gnawed out, whether by magic or Behindkind—and the latest of those bodies is at the very wedding hall he has been staking out. The Behindkind investigators suspect one of Athelas's housemates: YeoWoo, a gumiho with a thirst for revenge and an even greater appetite for soft underbelly than Athelas.

Story
King Markon of Montalier is at the end of his tether. His son, Prince Parrin, is afflicted with a rather nasty curse that slaughters, maims, or brutally attacks any woman with whom he so much as flirts. After the rumor that sweeps around the kingdom, promising that any woman breaking the "curse" will be eligible to marry the prince, there is no shortage of willing volunteers. Unfortunately, there is also no shortage of bodies piling up.

Story
What is a maiden to do when her prince is not a prince, her hair won’t stop growing, and someone has cursed her to sleep for 300 years? In Polyhymnia’s case, it seems expedient to get up with the help of a kiss or two, trailing her hair behind her, and find out who did it. Nothing quite works out as planned, however, and Poly can’t be sure if that’s because she never seems to be able to remember things like the mysterious spindle that keeps showing up around her, or if it’s the fault of the wizard who woke her but never stops long enough to explain anything.

Story
I'm one scrappy wizard. As someone with barely a flicker of magic, I've spent my life being mocked and surviving fights with bullies. But when my parents die in an accident, and I find myself responsible for our whole wizard house and family, I know my usual tactics aren't going to cut it. The situation veers from bad to catastrophic when my backstabbing cousin stages a coup and takes my family hostage. I barely manage to flee, but the only supernatural willing to help me is Killian Drake - the most feared vampire in the region.

I'm a convicted murderer with a chip on my shoulder and a dangerous lack of restraint. And then there's Zak. His rap sheet makes mine look tame. The bounty on his head is worth more money than I'll ever make, and the deadly fae that shadow his every step wield more power than I'll ever know. Plucked out of the Collector’s Pens, auctioned off to a vampire contingent, and sent across the ocean to the Alpha Territories was not exactly how I planned to spend my week. Actually, scratch that. I had planned the first bit. But I was supposed to be sold to the werewolves so I could save my friend from a fate worse than death. Instead, the bloodsuckers have me and so far? It's not going great. I've been shoved into a corset and made to look like an extra on the cast of Bridgerton, all to take part in the Harvest Games....

Publisher's summary
When you get up in the morning, the last thing you expect to see is a murdered guy hanging outside your window. Things like that tend to draw the attention of the local police, and when you're squatting in your parents' old house until you can afford to buy it, another thing you can't afford is the attention of the cops.
Oh yeah. Hi. My name is Pet. It's not my real name, but it's the only one you're getting. Things like names are important these days.
And it's not so much that I'm Pet. I am a pet. A human pet: I belong to the two Behindkind fae and the pouty vampire who just moved into my house.
It's not weird, I promise - well, it is weird, yeah. But it's not weird weird, you know?

Let's get one thing straight - Ivy Wilde is not a heroine. In fact she's probably the last witch in the world you'd call if you needed a magical helping hand, regardless of her actual abilities. If it were down to Ivy, she'd spend all day every day on her sofa, where she could watch TV, munch junk food, and talk to her feline familiar to her heart's content. However, when a bureaucratic disaster ends up with Ivy as the victim of a case of mistaken identity, she's yanked very unwillingly into Arcane Branch.

When a jaguar shifter drops in and asks for help in tracking down an ancient blood-magic statuette, I say no thank you. I learned a long time ago the key to survival is keeping a low profile. But it's hard to ignore an artifact of the gods powerful enough to blow holes in reality. Enter stalker werewolves in a black Mercedes and magicians trying to capture me. They all think I know where the damned statue is. Then I'm attacked by demons. It wouldn't be so bad, but some of them are really rude. Being rude is a capital crime where I come from. My name is Danica James. I'm a cop with the Arcane Division. Most mages have the ability to manipulate the elements - fire, water, air, earth, electricity. My magic only works on machines and electrical devices. They call me a magitek. That doesn't help much with demons and vampires, let alone criminals with lethal magikal powers.

As a professional thief, Esme Bellerose's daylong job interview was going well: She'd come through most of it with only a black eye, bloody lip, broken wrist, a few cracked ribs, and talon marks from a ruby-throated dragon - but at least she wasn't missing any pieces. And if she could only survive until the five o'clock hour, she'd land the job that was every mystic thief's dream: employment at SPL Inc. But the head of SPL, Elric Ostergaard, has other plans, and he's put one additional task on Esme's job application, which must be completed before he'll hire her.

Twelve years ago, I was hobbled by my alpha, cast out of my pack, and forced into an unfriendly world without any protection. Despite being unable to shift, I have talents the others don't have. I can see the spirits of dead people, for one. And I have a knack for fighting rogue supernaturals. My ex-alpha will never let me back in, but there's another alpha in the city. Something has been killing his wolves, and he wants me to destroy it before it takes another one. He'll triple my going rate—but that's not the thing that makes me agree to help him. He says he can free my wolf.

His scandalous daughter, who ran away from home years ago to study illusion? Hetta knows it won’t be her, and she’s glad of it. Story
"Happily Ever After" wasn't supposed to come with a do-over option. But when my husband of 20 years packs up and heads for greener pastures, and my son heads away to college, that's exactly what my midlife becomes. A do-over. This time, though, I plan to do things differently. Age is just a number, after all, and at 40 I'm ready to carve my own path. Eager for a fresh start, I make a somewhat unorthodox decision and move to a tiny town in the Sierra foothills.

This book is delightful and refreshing. The story is told by a first person perspective and a fae's pet. It's witty, you fall in love with the characters. At first, in chapter one, I had my doubts. By chapter two, I was hooked.

Caught my attention from the start
I was looking for something different without all the soppy in love with a Fae story and this fit the bill! Mysterious and interesting. I still have questions, but not in a “I’m not satisfied way.” More of a I can’t wait for the next book way. Love the fairy godtrash man who keeps stealing her stuff. I can’t wait to find out who he is.

Loved it
Short, fun, quirky little urban fantasy involving a murder mystery, three unlikely supernatural allies investigating the murder, and a street smart orphan who becomes their "human pet." It was weirdly wholesome despite the murder and gore. Pet is very humorous and lends a lot of lightheartedness to the serious fae and vampire. Already queued up the rest of the series so I'll be ripping through it this week.
Listened to the audiobook and the narrator was SO GOOD: Zehra Jane Naqvi

Very light but intriguing
The protagonist called Pet has a snarky cocky attitude. Ok some holes in story like a street kid trying to save to buy the house she squats in but the write in the end has a twist on this seeming hole in plot. Set around Hobart Tasmania. Lots of local references that got me curious enough to go googling. On to book two series been out but the audio versions looked to have come out in 2019 on Audible.

Excellent
I've read this book a few times, but I found this narrator to have an excellent command of the different characters involved in the story. I live Pet, Jin-Yeong, Zero and Athelas with their various personalities and foibles, and Detective Tuatu is fun. Love this series.

Original and Flamin Fantastic!
This book is worth the read and/or the listen! Main character stays true to self, which blows away a lot of stereotypes. I've read the series and have respect for W.R Gingell, fun, humorous and sometimes downright deadly.
