Excellent combination of Earth and Fantasy

Buy this. It does not have some traditional LitRPG plot devices but it makes up for those missing devices with creativity and coherence of story through the three books included.

Trust me!

Accidental Thief - Hal Dix was an unaccomplished man having no luck whatsoever. His wife Mona, on the other hand, was a successful account executive bypassing his meager salary by leaps and bounds. This only added to his misery and depression. With a three-day holiday coming up he stopped at a flea market hoping to find a new video game to play while his wife and baby visited her mother. At the flea market, he met Tildi who gave him a bootlegged copy of a new game called Fantasma. Once home, Hal loaded the DVD, entering Fantasma. Immediately acquiring a companion due to some unforeseen circumstances, Hal found himself involved in his first quest. Hal was amazed by the realism of the game and became engaged in his class as a thief. The tale continues with multiple quests and successful levels up. The plot progression is rather linear and predictable but is still exciting. As the tale continues toward the later chapters it gets better. Some of Hal’s skill decisions were questionable but it was his choice. I hope the next volume will be just as clever and unique.
Accidental Warrior – Hal was once again called back to Fantasma to discover what had happened to Kay. She had been on a mission but had not been heard from in the past four months. To follow Kay’s path east, Hal employed himself as a caravan guard but could not do so as a rogue. He was forced to change his class to warrior. Starting over at level one, he would not be able to use any of his rogue skills until reaching level eleven when he could dual-class. Onward to the city of Hyrah, the place of Kay’s last contact. During his journey, Hal learned of the prophecy of The Opponent. A great hero who would come from beyond the stars to Fantasma to help in their time of need against a great tyrant; the universal battle of good versus evil. Through deception, Hal finds himself in the Coliseum as one of the Gladiators and must find a way to escape. Contributing to his companions, Hal manages to escape with many of the slaves forming his army. Now it was on to defeat Baron Norak and his Imperial Army.
Accidental Mage – Hal returns home only to find his wife and daughter missing, along with a note from the Emporer of Fantasma requesting his presence. Hal retrieved the old game disc, and opened the portal, returning to Fantasma. Hal’s new mission was to become a mage to defeat the Emporer. With Tildi’s help and the three other remaining mages, Hal needed to learn everything they knew; a rather impossible task but this is fantasy fiction. Beginning with ice magic, Hal needed to get his magic on! There are five magic elements in the world of Fantasma; Earth, Fire, Air, Water, and the mysterious Spirit. As the mythical hero, Hal would have to master all five to complete the prophecy. The story is a quasi-LitRPG at best. The skill system and the remarkable level of advance are true fantasy in themselves, but they did tie everything together in the amount of time the author desired. All-in-all I did enjoy the trilogy, although the numerous stat checks were annoying. Roberto Scarlato did a fine job as narrator.

good story

overall good story for a younger crowd. The characters are a little static, would have liked to get to know them better, but the plot line was pretty good and the story flows smoothly.

Easy Listening

The storyline is well though out and it's easy to listen for for my young niece as well. I found myself enthroned throughout the entire series due to all the voice actors giving it their personal touches.

Fun adventure

I enjoyed the book very much. The story line had a great flow to it. I would have liked the 3rd book to last a little longer with a few more twists but all in all a great job.

Not bad

I enjoined listening to this series so if you are just looking for a series to enjoy this is a good one. If you're a bit more critical of what you listen to it has some issues. Sometimes circumstances are a little contrived, and sometimes the dialogs hits you over the head with a metric ton of words when fewer would do. Still it was enjoyable.

Excellent listen.

really enjoyed this series or books. even the narrator was good. To many times I have run across a bad narration of a good book and it totally ruins it.
