Publisher's summary

Shadowvale isn’t your typical small-town America. The sun never shines, the gates decide who enters, magic abounds, and every resident bears some kind of curse.

Lexi Gardner is a rare creature with a nearly unlimited supply of magic. Unfortunately, that magic has gotten a little low. That’s all right. She’s come to Shadowvale for a refill and thanks to an impending magical event, getting all the magic she requires shouldn’t be a problem.

Until she crosses paths with someone who greatly needs her help. A man trapped in the forest. A man no one wanted anything to do with. A man considered by most to be a curse. Lexi, however, sees beyond his past. She sees him for who he is now. And who he could become. The only problem is saving this handsome mountain of a man will take more magic than she has. In fact, it’ll take all the magic she can get her hands on. Seems a small price to pay for his company, however.

She vows to help him if he’ll help her in return, something he’s glad to do. But he has his own issues to deal with. As do most people in town. Like Amelia Marchand, the witch who created Shadowvale. Will Lexi be able to help Amelia and her new friend while securing the magic she desperately wants? Because a life without magic won’t be any kind of life at all. Unless love turns out to be all the magic she needs…

a little different for this series

I have enjoyed all of the novels in this series. This one stands out as a little different. the characters are definitely more unique than the others. I liked Lexi, although I wish there was a little more background on sylphs. I also liked Eddie - his was a very believable character. it was great to reconnect with Izzy & Henry & to get deeper into Amelia's story. Overall, a good listen but be aware that it is not as typical a paranormal romance as the other novels.

Wonderful story as always

I enjoy these books most because they are always so supportive and positive. I can really count on her books to always have a happy ending. If you need a good love story with super supportive and nice characters where you know everything will end up okay in the end this series is for you. And sometimes we all need to know everything is going to be alright and this series always gives positive ways to deal with tough situations. If you don’t like fluffy, happy stories where finding and falling for your true love quickly and always has a happy ending then these probably aren’t for you. But if you do like those things and an interconnected cool, breezy, and creative magical world building style then these books are for you.

Shadowvale for the win!

Kristen Painter delivers an amazing new adventure in Shadowvale. Sweet romance and magic intertwined with dangerous trials and significant insights about some influential characters. The incredibly talented BJ Harrison brings this story to life with another magical performance.

Cant wait for the next!

Thourghly enjoyed this book but then Kristen Painter never disappoints. I found myself not liking Amelia ,the woman that founded Shadowvale, another sign of a good book ,emotional involvement.

So Many Questions Answered

This book was the answer to so many questions throughout the series. Possibly my favorite book of the series. I love that we have some resolution to what happened after the book Monster In The Mirror.

I read these book as they were released, but this book makes me want to go back and binge the series. The author’s character and world building is so satisfying you feel that you are immersed in the story.

This book can be read as a standalone, but I am happy that I read them in order so that the world and characters grew with the series.

As always, BJ Harrison’s narration is a delight.
