The author has lived a long varied and interesting life. There has been many twist and turns, but nothing that could be considered, a life’s work. He graduated from college in the early sixties with the full intention of becoming an art teacher, but at the exact time, Vietnam happened and he spent ten years in the United States army with two tours of duty to the war. After separation from the service and with no specific direction, utilizing the G.I. Bill, he decided to obtain a Master of Fine Arts degree and possibly teach art in a college environment. He got involved in a residential real estate sales before finding a teaching position and seemed to find a niche and there he would stay for a number of years. The economy was good and homes were an easy sell. After continued success in real estate, an opportunity presented itself. A nine hole golf course was placed on the market and included extra acreage to develop it into an eighteen hole course. He jumped on this opportunity, and for the next seventeen years occupied himself fully with the development and operation of the golfing facility. In 2007, he sold the course and retirement was realized. As he tried to settle into the life that we all hope for, but it didn’t take long for boredom to grab hold. He read every book that he could get his hands on, did extensive gardening and traveled, but there was still time for more. He even sold real estate for a short time and quickly discovered that it was no longer a fun vocation. Then, this idea for a book got into his head, and he stated writing. He was always quite the historian and loved reading about immigrants and their trials and tribulations. It was natural for him to create a fictional account of people living in real history and in real places. After the completion of this first novel, he quickly realized that he had to continue with his writing and hopefully, another book will be ready, soon. As mentioned in the beginning of this mini-biography, there had been nothing that he considered as a life’s work, until now that is.
