Angel can't stay out of trouble😊

I am still loving the adventures of this delightfully country zombie. She is irreverent but continues to try to rise above her past while dealing with her vibrant need for brains. I hope there is more coming in this series. I laughed out loud a lot while listening. The narrator is fantastic!

Would you consider the audio edition of White Trash Zombie Gone Wild to be better than the print version?

I have not read the books........but why would I want too!!!! Allison McLemore has brought this series to life. Southern style Zombified life!!

I just really like how relatable Angel is.....even if she is a Zombie!

Where Angel goes Zombie on Bear, Nick's dad!

There are several moments in the book, but I guess the parts that relate to Angel's dad.

I can't wait to hear more from Angel Crawford!

Glad I reconsidered!

After book 4, I was ready to give up on this series. I thought that book was a little too vulgar, and the language got quite a bit too extensive. However, the allure of McLemore's narration caused me to have second thoughts, and enough time had passed that I decided to go ahead and get book 5. I am really glad that I did! This book was not nearly as offensive, and the story was very good! It felt a lot more like the first couple of books. Allison McLemore really has the narration for these stories dialed in, and makes them a lot of fun. Great book, and now on to the next one!

I just think these books are funny with just enough drama! The narrator does a fantastic job as well! I would recommend anytime!!

My favorite since the very first one, that ending!

Oh my gosh, the ending of this one! Whoa! I am so ready to start the next one, but I won’t let myself until the beginning of June, but just whoa! Now, if you haven’t read these yet, there will be a TON of SPOILERS in this review, so you should probably stop now if you don’t want to be spoiled for those! I’ll try not to spoil this one though if you’re all caught up to this point for the most part.

Now, I know that these probably didn’t come out one a month as I’m listening to them, but the beginning of this one was a tiny bit info-dumpish for me. We knew from the end of the last one that Angel was going to have some issues with the V-12 that they’d given her to help get extra strength when she’d been trying to help save people from Sabreton. But we begin the story with her basically in this state. Now she’s learned that it does have at least one good effect, it helps with her dyslexia so she can read for her college classes. Unfortunately it is also causing her to act like a bit of a junkie in some ways, her paranoia, feeling like she needs it and things aren’t right without it.

It turns out there are other issues, ones that she is causing problems for Phillip for how she is getting it. She is sneaking it out of the lab, taking it from his doses. Turns out it has some bad side effects too. She loses impulse control. She sees fireflies and possibly other hallucinations. Her paranoia causes her to think other people are judging her and not trusting when they say they want to help her. Even her father notices her change in behavior.

Along with this, there is a big zombie fest going on in the town, coinciding with the release of the zombie movie that was being filmed there in an earlier book. So now you have not only Sabreton people, but someone with a cadaver sniffing dog, and people out “hunting” zombies. There was a little bit of Andrew Sabreton’s new zombie life mixed into the story and I wonder if that will really fill out the last book. Not to mention a faux documentary film that threatens the zombies being discovered, with actual zombie footage. So much going on!

Pietro at first is talking about taking the zombies underground, disappearing till it blows over. But he soon will realize that might not work in this world wide web connection society. Along with that we find that a character we didn’t know actually knows what Angel is. I’d kind of wondered if that person had some knowledge. The FBI is sniffing around funeral homes. Dr. Cherish is back causing problems, there is so much going on!

I can’t even go into a lot of what happens because there is just a lot going on in this book. It was so good though, and I liked how Angel’s problem was handled. I could say there was also some crazy major stuff that happened to Angel at the end of the book, and I can’t WAIT to start the next book in June to find out just what comes from that.

Great Series, But Author/Narrator Duo A Necessity

This is such a fun series, and it would lose half its greatness if you separated Rowland and McLemore. Rowland's Angel has become so developed and trailer trash charming due to the unique identity she has been given through McLemore's performance.

The storyline doesn't change a lot as we move from one novel to the next in this series. The challenge of finding brains for substance and the zombie infiltration into the small community and their interactions with each other is pretty much it. But the continuing character development of Angel by Rowland keeps the reader engaged, and McLemore brings Angel to life and makes her sing.

Whether intentional or not, this series was written to be heard.

Will Angel go back to her life of drug addiction or stay on the straight and narrow? I’ve been waiting for what feels like a long time to find out!

For fifteen months, I have been incredibly anxious about the fate of Angel Crawford. When we last saw Angel, she was in her car shooting up with a zombie combat mod–a drug to enhance performance in combat–she had left over from the rescue mission in New York.

Angel has worked so hard to get free of drugs and get a life she feels is worth living. She has a good job, supportive friends, is going to school, is getting along great with her dad… and yeah, zombie, but it’s manageable. I was SOOOOOOO worried that she’d start slipping back into a drug habit and lose all she’s been working toward.

And she does screw up pretty badly. In an attempt to keep herself supplied with the drug, she puts Phillip, her zombie-baby with a damaged parasite, at great risk, along with her relationship with the Clan, the lab, the morgue, and her dad. Though I’m not typically a nervous reader (that’s Nell’s job), I will tell you that though she screws up, Angel gets it right in the end and I am so relieved!

In addition to dealing with her backslide into addiction, Angel also has to deal with being hunted, of course. The evil Dr. Kristi Charish is once again trying to get Angel captured or killed for her own nefarious purposes. And all of this is happening during a huge Zombie-fest celebrating the launch of the movie that was being filmed in Angel’s hometown two books ago–High School Zombie Apocalypse!!!. I really like that Rowland brought the movie back around into the story; it’s a nice bit of continuity.

I have to say, Allison McLemore does an amazing job narrating this series. I love her voices for Angel, her dad, Nick, and all the others. She does a great job of making each character a unique voice so I can keep them straight in my head. I really need to find out what else she narrates.

I rarely give extreme ratings, preferring to keep a neat and tidy bell curve. But this book and series, particularly in audio, is really, really good. I’m awarding it a fat five! :)

These books never disappoint. I never find myself daydreaming while listening. This indicates a good book to me. They aren't the deepest books, but they are entertaining. I'm sad it's over. I can't wait for the next one!
