Murder, deceit, and baking....

It’s the big finale of the Great British Baking Contest. Who will win? Who will fall flatter than an eggless soufflé? And will amateur baker and witch Poppy survive to find out?

Dark forces are at work in the picture-perfect village of Broomewode, Somerset. Poppy’s in danger, but why? She’s getting closer to solving the mystery of her beginnings, but so many questions remain. Will she finally meet her birth mother? Who was her father? Is the local coven helping or hindering her search? Will she and sexy Viscount Benedict finally have their first date?

There are old and new mysteries to solve in this final installment of the Great Witches Baking Show.

There’s no swearing, sex, or gore - just good, clean fun. And recipes! The Great Witches Baking Show series is "like one of those sweet English cakes, you have one bite, and then you are totally lost and addicted for life!"

Brain candy with a side of cake!

I have truly enjoyed these cozy mysteries and adored the British Baking Show angle in each one. The characters were fun and likeable and the writing was quick and paced properly. Revisiting Broomwoad Hall each installment with Hollis McCarthy’s dulcet tones was like spending time with an old, new friend. I am sad to see it end, despite wrapping up nicely with the usual Poppy unveiling. A definite must for those who want brain candy with a side of cake and a death or 3!!

The Finale is here!

It is bittersweet to write this final review. I am thrilled to listen and find out how the series wrapped up, but I am so sad that this series is over. Fabulous characters with a terrific plot with several central storylines woven throughout the entire series. This book wraps it all up and finishes it off for us. I so hope that the author will find a way to work these characters into future books or possibly even a spin off series? I absolutely love the narrator as she really brought the books to life and made the characters feel ever so real! I definitely will be looking to listen to more from her as well as read or listen to more from this author! If you haven't yet listened to this series, you absolutely need to add it to your TBR list and start listening! I promise you will be delightfully entertained and fall in love with the characters!

Fantastic!

I have really enjoyed this series and I must say that this appears to be the final installment and Ms. Warren did not disappoint… There were some twists and turns and a very unexpected ending. As always Ms. McCarthy was fantastic in terms of narration. If you are looking for a cozy series that is well written with nothing that young listeners or readers should not hear then this is a series for you. It is also just the right length and overall duration. I will say that this series inspired me to up my baking game.

dumbing down characters

not only is it predictable, but the loose ends are tied with the laziest knots ever. and the only way any of the story works is if the main character is dumbed down beyond what is reasonable. not worth the money. I wish I could get it back.

spoiler ahead.

I don't care if they are 3rd cousins. Related is related and we aren't brushing past that they share a great grandparent. gross.
