Publisher's summary

One day, six towers appear on Earth. Each one stands hundreds of stories tall, and are invulnerable to all attacks. At the base of each tower is a portal, welcoming in all who dare enter it. All sorts of magical monsters can be found inside the towers. Even treasure, magic, and superhuman strength can be acquired.

The problem is that the towers aren't a friendly place. Even worse, the towers sometimes release waves of monsters to attack Earth. In the year 2083, there are only a hundred survivors. In one last attempt, they challenge the final floor without regard for their lives. By some miracle, they manage to beat the floor at the cost of their lives, leaving only one survivor. As a reward for clearing the tower, he is granted one wish. He decides to go back in time to before the towers arrived. His goal is simple: prevent humanity from being wiped out.

WOW!

I am almost speechless on how good this book is. I've listened to a lot of books and this has to be one of my top favorite. My only issue with this book is that it was too short. I need more!

OP because it's not his first run through

This was pretty great! I enjoyed the fact that the MC is overpowered because he's already done everything and is just exploiting weaknesses. the book flew along really fast, wish there was a bit more.

AMAZING!!! Must buy!!!!

This book series is awesome! Beware! The story will suck you in and make you wish you could experience the towers yourselves. Author has an amazing story telling ability and keeps the story moving and addictive. Allows you to enjoy the rules of the towers but to focus on the characters and the epic story line. Please buy this book!!! P.S Narrator does an amazing job bringing the story off the page! All around great book.

Read it, loved it, definitely gonna reread later

So this starts out as a typical post-apocalyptic ‘go back in time to save humanity’ litrpg. But then the dynamic characters and all the cool different floors of the tower pull you in. Pretty standard leveling system with skills having to be bought ($$$) for the most part, which keeps the MC from picking up every skill under the sun. There were a few interesting quirks, like having to sacrifice levels to gain special abilities, which keeps the MC from feeling too OP. The author does a really great job of explaining the magic system and world building, and building on both throughout the book. Looking back, I think what I appreciated most was how varied all the floors were, the MC’s approach to battle, and his personality and those of his guild-mates. I really liked the Index stuff and the battle-turtle <3. Also, Cameron knows how to write a tear-jerking moment. I’m not gonna spoil it for you, but... darn if that author doesn’t make you FEEL.

And to the narration... solid 3.5 stars I think. A little rougher in the first chapter or so compared to later on in the book. Not my favorite narrator, but still definitely worth the read/listen.

Hard to put down

This is the third book I have read from this author now and I have been impressed each time. I think I am becoming a fan.

Like the others, we have an overpowered main character kicking ass and taking names. It is a fun book, very not serious. The protagonist and his friends are surprisingly complex. The world is a bit weak and the towers are a little bland right now. We are still in relatively low tower floors, so I imagine the floors will become more unique as they become harder to murder our way through.

The skills and leveling are well done, well paced, and interesting. I like how the main characters over-poweredness comes from advanced knowledge rather than simply skills that are clearly outclassing everyone elses for no reason.

I am not sure what it is exactly that makes this book so easy to listen to, but I definitely had some difficulty putting it down.

The negative reviews are way off

I would rate this series as a lighter version of Life Reset or the Two Week Curse. Mostly due to the shorter novel length, storylines are not as in depth as these much longer litRPG series. That being said, every story aspect that makes these kind of novels great is present and accounted for. The leveling is interesting and frequent. I also found I started caring for the characters, which guarantees I’ll be picking up book 2. Overall, this is one of the better (of the lighter) litRPG series.
