Audiobook makes better
The voice describing what happens really helps the imagination to flourish. I could follow along and visualize every detail. The music in the background when there were chanters and songs matched the words beautifully.

Stunningly beautiful.
I listened to the first book years ago, and the story and performance were so beautiful the memory of it has stayed with me ever since. The original music is a perfect enhancement to the story. I can't wait to get the third book.

Beautifully Written
I read this book as an adolescent and I listened to it on audible for nostalgia's sake. This was always my favorite of the series. From the Palace of Cobwebs to the Sorcerer's Nest, this world and its chantment are super enticing and beautifully written. Some plot holes though, as to why Merithuros built its whole royal palace on the backs of five children. That seems kinda dumb. That aside, the character development, the pacing, the lore, the chantment, it's all very captivating. Calwyn can be annoying at times and not very wise but that is what it's like to be seventeen. And how old is Darrow? 29? That's a little weird but I guess not unusual in traditional societies. Overall I love this book; a childhood favorite.
