Publisher's summary

Brian Roy, ghostbuster extraordinaire, is forced to admit the chills and thrills of his career are taking a toll on his bad ticker. To save his life, he takes a no-stress job as superintendent of Woods Cemetery and can’t be happier...until dead people - angry dead people - rear their grisly heads and grasping hands, pulling him back into his old job!

Brian’s first day quickly goes downhill when fog descends like an icy fortress, separating him from the outside world. Caught between a rock and a tombstone, he takes refuge in his office and learns there may be one way out: the crypt.

Ruled by a malevolent spirit, the crypt and its undead residents are determined to make Brian their latest victim. When Brian’s wife, Jenny, learns what’s happening, she takes matters into her own hands. With the help of a ghost hunter, Jenny goes after her husband.

But nothing - absolutely nothing - can prepare them for the horrors they’ll face!

The Pauper's Crypt by Rob Ripley

Another excellent horror story. It is book 5 of the Moving In Series with one more to go. Plenty of ghosts , both good and bad, to wet your whistle. I recommend this series. The narrator is Thom Bowers and he is excellent.

Creepiest one yet!!

After the events of the last book, Brian and Jenny have decided to put their ghost hunting days behind them because Brian is lucky to be alive. Brian gets a job as a caretaker at a cemetery but right from the start he learns that leaving the dead behind is not as easy as he hopes.

This edition was the creepiest yet!! Right from the start the action and scares start and it doesn't let up. Poor Brian is in for a fight like no other and even Jenny will have to get involved to save her husband. The setting was perfect too. A cemetery is always a creepy place but the way the Paupers Crypt was, just made it that much scarier. Imagine being stuck in a place like that!!! It was expertly written and developed and was by far my favourite place in the series.

Poor Brian and Jenny don't get a break. I've become invested in these characters and hate to see them suffer, but it wouldn't be a Ron Ripley book if his characters don't suffer some bit ;) Lol. Our old favourites are back and we see some new faces too. The big bad in this book was seriously creepy!! I can only imagine what he was like when he was alive!!

In all, this was dark, creepy, fast paced and the best one yet. I'm really looking forward to the next book and highly recommend this series, and indeed, the author too!!

Thom Bowers has come a long way as a narrator. He has an array of tones and voices for the different characters and always manages to bring the atmosphere to life too. I remember him reading earlier books and to listen to him now is awesome. He has fast become one of my favourite narrators.

I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.

This Story is getting better

The story continues Brian has been ghost hunting for years. He is known to have a bad heart. As his wife (Jenny) insists he give it up and find another job. So he starts a job as a local caretaker of a cemetery. He thinks his lifejust got quieter but he wasn't counting on having an evil preacher being trapped in one of the crypts. I love our know characters Shane, Carl, Sylvia, and Leo make an appearance in this book. I loved their characters. The storyline is well developed with some of the ghost being creepy scary. You wonder will poor Brian get out alive. The characters are believable and interesting. I love Ron Ripley as an author and love Thom Bowers as the narrator. I highly recommend this book and look forward to the next book.

Excellent story!

I read the Moving In Series books 1 - 5 and Ron Ripley really knows how to take you down a path with a lot of unexpected twists. Thom Bowers adds even more life to the characters in the audio versions. Well done all around!.

Marginally interesting

I’m not a fan of this storyline, nor of the narrator (his representation of Jennifer’s voice was stilted and unconvincing).
