Publisher's summary

This convenient, short-listen book investigates the role the mind/brain plays in preparation for, enduring, and recovering from invasive surgery. It specifically explores how the conscious mind can help a patient endure the experience and quickly heal. This is the ninth book in this series.

The Innovations in Mind/Body Therapies series is a collection of ten short-listen books that review latest thinking and research findings in Integrative Medicine, which is contrary to the bottom-up dogma that has been part of main-stream medicine for over a century. The focus is on what how the body down to the sub-cellular level reacts to its environment and how the mind can be intentionally used to affect the health through self-talk, imagery, meditation, and hypnotherapy. The ideas discussed are based upon thousands of research studies conducted by major US and international medical schools and research facilities.

The series includes the following books:

  1. The Mind/Body Connection
  2. The New Biology
  3. The Neurology of Mind/Body Health
  4. Transformation Revisited
  5. The Immune System Primer
  6. Using Imagery to Heal
  7. A Quick Pain Management Primer
  8. Healing the Body Basics
  9. The Mind, Surgery, and Recovery
  10. Calming Your Gut

This series is by Tim Brunson, who holds both Doctor of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Doctor of Philosophy Clinical Hypnotherapy degrees, has practiced hypnotherapy for 29 years with clients and patients referred to him by medical and mental health practitioners, has trained clinicians internationally, and almost 3,000 hours of training much of which was medical and mental health related. Many of his courses are already available through Amazon in either short-listen or longer books.

The basis of this series is much more than clinical experience and training. Dr. Brunson has used these concepts for his personal health and to vastly improve is own healthcare experiences. This includes surgery and recovery to include addressing multiple skin cancer tumors and outpatient surgeries during which he was fully aware and underwent the procedures without sedation.
