Jolene and Tanner were hiking in the Idaho wilderness when Tanner slipped down a slope of loose rocks, injuring his leg and knee so he couldn't walk. Jolene had to leave him in a campsite along the trail while she went for help.
She found Max Smith - that's the name on his current ID - who is a retired veteran camping in a remote Idaho state park in his RV. Max agreed to help rescue Tanner.
