Publisher's summary

Contains books one and two of The Forever Series.

Jon Ryan is irreverent, cocky, funny, and walks with a swagger. He says what he means, he says what he wants to, and, in fact, he says what needs to be said.

The cocky fighter pilot turned astronaut is also Earth's only chance for survival. The planet Jupiter, thrown off orbit, will destroy Earth in less than a century. Jon volunteers for the most ambitious, desperate mission ever conceived: His consciousness must be transferred into an experimental android host, where he'll live an immortal - and lonely - life. Jon's only companion on his 50-year voyage is his ship's irritable AI.

After successfully journeying for decades and locating a suitable human resettlement, Jon begins to discover the wonders life can hold, including the power of family and, for once, true peace. But no good deed, or good man, goes unpunished.

The US president wants him dead and is willing to sacrifice his own people to eliminate Jon. An alien species has vowed a holy war to eliminate all humans, either on Earth or wherever they might run. Only Jon can protect humans from their enemies.

With the best planet for colonization ruled by an ancient, malevolent species, there may be no hope for humans in a crowded galaxy. The limits of human technology may not be sufficient. The limits of Jon's endurance may not be enough. His endless enemies may prove to be unstoppable.

Jon may have forever, but does humanity have any future at all?

Wow! Great book series

This story was super fun and entertaining. The author was able to capture so much information without having to over explain it in the story. I listened to it non-stop and did not want it to end. This book was much better than any others I got through purchasing with credits. Great Sci-Fi adventure and hilarious. Voice actor fit the characters amazingly!

Never challenge Audible...

Read the reviews, and I thought, "How bad can it be?" Short answer, BAD!
It's like I mentally challenged Audible and was bitch slapped!
I can't even bring myself to finish...

Great story, a bit anti-American....

but I guess someone has to be the bad guy. Trump slight a little unnecessary.

Very close to bobiverse

I’ve been looking for something similar to bobiverse and no one has ever recommended this book. It’s so similar! I found it because it was an audible plus catalog book and I’m so happy I did! Love this book! Very similar theme about an android inhabiting other worlds and meeting aliens etc

Fabulous

So entertaining! The narrator is perfect for the main character, playful, irreverent, immortal. Well written sci-fi entertainment.

good overall story, but childish at parts

I enjoyed the book as a whole, and I'm curious where the next books go. however there were a lot of childish parts, primarily from the main character. and the multiple references to current politicians (by name) are really jarring when they're in a story that takes place in the future. really did not enjoy that aspect, but thankfully there weren't a ton of them.

Literary junk food

Characters we cardboard cutouts, and the author was more concerned with plot points than consistency. He wanted to break with realistic expectations in too many ways, in too many places, without even bothering to handwave things away with some kind of applied phlebotinum to justify it.

Examples include having many diverse aliens inhabiting many different planets but they all act and think like human stereotypes dressed up in a costume. Why would a race of sentient cutlery that has completely foreign biology act and think like a human would?

The book was overall fun, but there were just too many places where the author just didn't put in the thought and it was just too many jarring breaks with reality which aren't accounted for or explained. suspension of disbelief was impossible. I eventually just had to pretend they were reallly all just dressed up humans and ignore the physical and logical implausibilties to try to enjoy the excellent voice acting of a mediocre story and plot.

I got it during a time limited promo and definitely would say it wouldn't have been worth the credit. They're too valuable to spend on mediocrity.

The Narrator was Great. The book was OK

I will start by saying I enjoyed the Main Character and his AI quite a bit. The Narator did an excellent job and does such great voices that he brought it to life.
The book however did not live up to its potential. The protagonist seems to have every possible advantage over his enemies. Too much. Conflict was never an actual threat. The author attempted to throw larger and larger threats at the protagonist, but every threat was met with an immediate victory without even breaking a sweat.

It comes down to this: The main character is basically the equivalent of Superman without any krytonite.

While enjoyable, it honestly didn't ever feel exciting.
