Publisher's summary

Focusing on the early church during the 50 years that followed the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, The Emerging Ekklesia is a chapter-by-chapter reflection on the New Testament from Acts 1 through the book of Jude. Meant to be listened as a companion to the actual biblical text, it's filled with the author's personal insights, developed over a period of 60 years. Including numerous quotations from the New Testament, observations from early church fathers, and personal anecdotes from the author's 40-year experience with grassroots house churches, it spotlights the vigor and growth of early Christianity and explores the emergence of the church under the leadership of Jesus' teachings and the work of the Holy Spirit.

"You are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit." (Ephesians 2:19-22)

Wonderfully Read.

I have to put in a major plug for David Pickering the narrator. David is British - his delivery is terrific and his facility with multiple languages a big help as he moves through The Emerging Ekklesia. Everyone who has downloaded his narration has been thrilled with the result. The scripture sections come absolutely alive. For those interested in diving into a 50 year piece of early Church history with a devotional twist, this might be the book the for you!
