Publisher's summary

She wants a fake relationship. He needs something real.

If there’s one thing Rae can’t stand, it’s pity. She’s 40, frazzled, and fed up - so attending an awards ceremony alone while her ex swans about with his new wife? Not an option. To avoid total humiliation, Rae needs a date of her own. And her young, hot-as-hell new best friend is the perfect candidate....

Zach Davis, king of casual hookups, has a secret: the notorious womanizer craves emotional connection, and anonymous encounters leave him feeling hollow. After years of performance, Zach’s desperate to be himself. So why does he agree to play Rae’s fake boyfriend? And why does it feel so easy?

When the line between pretence and desire blurs, Zach’s forced to face an unexpected truth: there’s nothing phony about his need for Rae. But the jaded divorcée’s been hurt by playboy men before. Can a weekend of faking it prove that Zach’s for real?

The Power of Love

That kind of Guy by Talia Hibbert Narrated by Rupert Channing

Finally Zach’s story!!
Another gorgeous Ravenswood’s man to fawn over. While I enjoyed learning more about Zach I actually missed the small townships gossiping busybodies. I thought they would make more of an appearance considering who Rae and Zach were.

I also found this story to be a bit predictable and thus it held no surprises for me. And despite Rae being the older woman, she came across as immature.

Having said that however, the steady build of friends to lovers was nice, and I love a happy ending.

The narration by Rupert Channing did hold the usual flame for me, the man has a miraculous tongue.
I look forward to reading more Talia Hibbert stories.

Talia Hibbert making me love her characters again

I'm glad Rae wasn't really concerned about her TERRIBLE ex-husband literally stealing her work. Cause I damn well was mad enough for her. It's just like a manipulative bastard to marry someone brilliant and convince them to do their work for them. Imagine how many famous men would have been nothing if their wives haven't given them the idea that made them famous! And I've decided I'm getting a t-shirt and baseball cap made that says "Gauche Divorcee" 🤷🏾‍♀️ sue me!

Lovely

I liked this series very much. I enjoy how the author develops her characters and the love scenes are fantastic! And, it’s the narrator that makes these books for me. He does such a wonderful job! One thing that’s helpful is that he doesn’t use odd accents or a strained voice for the women. You can feel the characters through him, their wants and needs! I’ll listen to whatever he narrates!

Almost perfect!

I have throughly enjoyed all three of these books in this series. The combination of female author and male narrator was interesting, and Wow, what a narrator! He was perfect. I liked the idea of the main characters all being marginalized people. Great books all around.

my favorite of the three

I'm a sucker for friends to lovers stories. The chemistry in this one is great and the seamless way they fell in love was great. of the three stories in this series, this one is my favorite.

Enjoyable Series

I waited to write my review until after I finished all three books and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. All three elationships had their own interesting dynamic. I have to say I think Ruth and Evan are my favorite couple, but that's not to take away from Hannah and Hate or Zach and Rae.

They were all entertaining and the storylines were all interesting. I listened to all three books over a span of 3 1/2 days while at work and I spent actual money and the second and third books, which I don't normally do. I highly recommend all three books.

Favorite Book in the Series!

After reading the first two books in this series, I thought it only fitting to read the last book even though I wasn’t as interested. I assumed it would be my least favorite.

So glad I was wrong! This ended up being my favorite book in the series. I loved the relationship and chemistry between Rae and Zach. Rae’s personality was refreshing in its maturity and strength. Lovely story!

Also, Rupert Channing gives a great performance as always.

Wow!

An incredible love story. It’s a story that you won’t be able to put down until the end, and yet, you don’t want it to end!
