Publisher's summary

This episode in Charles’ life entails two separate main events. First, Charles’ life involves finding and eliminating an elusive bandit that is determined to wipe out his entire family and take over his businesses.
The second event involves saving the White House from foreign terrorists determined to kill the President, wipe out his cabinet, and as many senators and congressmen as possible.
Charles begins this episode by spending two more days in Reno to act as the best man for Cedric Reed’s wedding.
Charles returns home and is met by Colonel Absalom H. Markland. A Spanish foreign entity is organizing a group of terrorists to attack the White House and kill the President, his cabinet, and all the high-ranking Senators and House members. Because of a treaty with Spain, and the laws of the land, we cannot eliminate them on their embassy grounds. President Grant is asking for help. Two delegates have been killed. The Spanish are suspected of their deaths.
While dealing with the Spanish threat, Charles must deal with the nephew of a mob boss that he had eliminated in New York that is determined to wipe out every member of his family and take over the businesses.
