Wayyy better than I expected

Way better than I expected. Ive run through most of the 40k books on audible and was just listening to this because I had nothing else. WHAT A MISTAKE! Very good performance and very good book. Cool look inside the navigator houses and cool to hear the inquisition not be omnipotent. Well read for a female vocalist. Overall im impressed, i hope there are more like this.

Pretty good

I listened to a lot of WH40K audio books. This narrator did a very good job. I usually don't enjoy female narrators very much and with 40k there are the usual 2 established names. So im happy to say this was a very well voice acted story.

It’s a good despite what narwhal said

Listen, this is a very good book performed by a very talented VA. It’s that simple.
Dont listen to the mouth breathers who complain that there is a gay character, it has no impact on the story and it hardly brought up.
You’ll most likely see the review, it’s not hard to miss due to its rambling babble of trying to sound smart by calling women “females”.
I mean cmon buddy that is a MASSIVE red flag
40K is fine, the gate is shut. Dont turn it into a platform to spread hate

An Engaging Story About the Secretive Navigators

Never before has there been a story so engaging and exciting. Within the pages of this book are the secrets of the rarely spoken of Navigator Houses. Helen Keeley does a magnificent job of bringing Mike Brooks' story to life.

Follow the footsteps of Lady Probantis, Novator of House Probantis, as she is drawn into an intrigue that threatens not only her and those around her, but also the greater Imperium of Man.

One of the best stories in the Dark Millenium!

Outstanding character development and a very well crafted story makes this one of the gems in the 40k library.

Mike Brooks' first full-length-novel for BL

This book tells the story of the navigator houses, oft mentioned but seldom explored in the 40k universe. Author Mike Brooks does a wonderful job competing and contrasting the murky, dirty underbelly of Ascension City against the ruling class of the navigator houses. A string of grisly murders have been committed, and what follows is Cheta and her compatriots hunting for the hunters in a rather enjoyable sci fi detective novel. It was refreshing to read a Warhammer story where the hero wasn’t just a meathead with a big gun, and one with some serious shades of grey to her as well.

Unfortunately this book got brigaded hard by some really angry people. Keep that in mind when reading any reviews or seeing an overall low score. As for the “controversy” that spawned so much vitriol, there is one character who mentions he has a husband two or three times and a cyborg skitarii who is referred to by they/them pronouns. They’re very minor moments.
