Resumen del Editor
When Maud McIntyre and her lady’s maid Daisy travel into the Scottish Highlands, the last thing they expect to find is a body on the train. Will these keen amateur sleuths stop a murderer in his tracks?
Edinburgh, 1911: When Maud McIntyre receives a letter from a maid called Rose, sharing her suspicions that something strange is happening in the house where she works, she and her assistant Daisy immediately travel to the Highlands to investigate.
But as they are changing trains, the body of a man falls from the carriage right in front of them, a bullet in his head. Maud and Daisy can’t believe it–they’ve waited ages for a new case, and now one has literally landed in front of them! And when the local police rule the death as a tragic accident, the pair has no choice but to investigate what they believe is a murder.
Arriving in the Scottish village, Maud and Daisy go undercover to begin their hunt for the murderer, while also investigating the strange behavior of Rose’s employer, a local art dealer. As they begin to piece together the chain of events, Maud and Daisy wonder whether the cases might be linked. Is it possible the man on the train was killed to cover up something in the village? And if so, who would do such a thing?
When a local artist is found murdered, Maud and Daisy become convinced the two cases are connected. Searching for the link between the deaths, will Maud and Daisy solve the case before another mysterious murder takes place?
A historical whodunnit perfect for fans of the mysteries of Helena Dixon, Verity Bright, T.E. Kinsey, and Catherine Coles.

From Italy in 1733 to Edinburgh in 1831 to a series of chilling murders in London in 1870 and a lethal game of revenge decades later, a watch touches lives with misfortune - until it comes into the hands of one young woman who might be able to stop it for good. This outstanding collaboration between four outstanding novelists follows characters who are irrevocably linked by fate, each one playing a key role in breaking the curse once and for all.

It's a rainy, uneventful evening in the Oddfellows' Arms until a man bursts into the pub, clearly unstable, and ranting about a body in Fennings' Mill. The police investigate and stumble upon a body-the face smeared with theatrical make-up and a false mustache pasted neatly over the lip. Once the national news descends, Inspector Faddiman calls in Inspector Littlejohn to help him uncover the dark, hidden secrets in this quiet, provincial town. Soon it becomes clear that a lot of people can't, and won't tell the truth.

Almost passed but glad I didn’t
At first Maude’s voice seemed too uptight, but Daisy balances and enhances the performance and the voices work well together. Love the story line and multiple plots that may or may not be connected.

Still enjoyable
Enough mystery and humor to keep us entertained and guessing. Yes, we did know who the killer was, but it was still a relaxing read.

Fun Story
This my second book of this author and I’m really enjoying the series . It’s a great fun woman’s detective adventure. The narration is wonderful ! She has a super accent for all the characters. I will be buying her next book in the series . This is a clean story without any smutty none sense !!
Thank you
Leslie M.

Enjoyable Characters
Back for round 2. Overall, very fun and it is great good continuation from the 1st book.
Personally, I do not feel the detective jobs were as solid as the 1st. But I did like the countryside setting, I did like seeing the return of a certain character (beyond Maud and Daisy).
I do feel that this is turning into a very enjoyable series. I see I have 1 book to go, but I do hope that Lydia Travers continues to write the series.
As with the last book, Helen McAlpine is an outstanding narrator. A winning performance!

Enjoyable and fun
This is just as much fun as the first in the series. Helen McAlpine has a magical ability creating so many different characters, bringing them all to life and drawing us into the story.
