This collection of 25 Hercule Poirot adventures is compiled from short stories written by Agatha Christie for The Sketch magazine in 1923 from March to December. In these stories, including "The Disappearance of Mr. Davenheim", "The Veiled Lady", and "The Adventure of the Egyptian Tomb", the eccentric private detective slowly and surely solves mysteries involving jealousy, revenge, and greed. These stories were well-received at the time and cemented Christie's reputation as the worthy successor to Arthur Conan Doyle.

A blinding snowstorm - and a homicidal maniac - traps a small party of friends in an isolated estate. Out of this deceptively simple setup, Agatha Christie fashioned one of her most ingenious puzzlers, which in turn would provide the basis for The Mousetrap, the longest-running play in history. From this classic title novella to the deliciously clever gems on its tail (solved to perfection by Hercule Poirot and Miss Jane Marple), this rare collection of murder most foul showcases Christie at her inventive best.

Resumen del Editor
In the title work in this collection of novellas, Poirot and Inspector Japp collaborate on the investigation of a suspicious suicide. The supernatural is said to play in the disappearance of top secret military plans in The Incredible Theft—an incredible claim, indeed, as Poirot will prove. The bullet that kills Gervase Chevenix-Gore shatters a mirror in Dead Man's Mirror—just the clue Poirot needs to solve the crime. And, while basking on white Mediterranean sands, Poirot stares trouble in the face—the beautiful face of Valentine Chantry, now celebrating her fifth marriage—in Triangle at Rhodes.
This title was previously published as Dead Man's Mirror.

Welcome to Alderley, a magnificent mansion in the heart of the West Country where a grand house party is taking place. The preparations have been made, the guests have been invited, and the staff are on hand. What could possibly go wrong? Let the entertainment begin. The theft of the diamond necklace and the antique pistols might all be explained, but the body in the lake - that really was a puzzle. Author Biggers was staying at a hotel on Waikiki Beach in the 1920s when he was inspired to write the book. The Chan role at first was relatively minor, and he didn’t say anything until several chapters had gone by. However, the concept caught on when the literary public wanted more of him. That prompted five subsequent books as the character became more prominent.

Thoroughly enjoyed the stories and the narration. Nigel Hawthorn did an amazing job with the voices for all of the different characters. So talented.

Don't fret over the narration of Nigel Hawthorne!
Hugh Fraser is to the rescue!
For some reason, the description of this title only includes Nigel Hawthorne as the narrator (who would have received one star as a narrator, mainly due to his poor reading of Poirot), but Hawthorne is only the narrator of the first story in this compilation. The wonderfully talented Hugh Fraser (Captain Hastings to the fans of the television series) narrates the other three stories. Hoorah for Hastings!

Four short mysteries from Christie
The first short story in this audio book, Murder in the Mews, is narrated poorly by Nigel Hawthorne. The rest of the stories are wonderfully narrated by Hugh Fraser. Overall, I found them to be enjoyable quick listens.

Fine diversion, but not as good as usual
I am sad to say I didn't enjoy these 4 novellas as much as I usually enjoy Christie, but that was partly because of the narration. Off the bat that disappointed me in Murder in the Mews. And that crime had me fooled for a while, but I was on the right track by the time Poirot explained all. The other stories were a bit better in narration. I half solved the theft of the papers, and the had figured out the method of covering up the murder with the broken mirror, though I didn't peg down the full picture. The final case I did not care for at all, and while I knew at the time it was committed who the poisoner was, I did not at all grasp the grander scheme. They made an easy little diversion from my reading of late though, I think I just prefer Christie's longer mysteries. And I prefer the usual narrators to Mr. Hawthorne.

Amazing at playback speed .75
I love this collection after reading almost everything from Agatha Christie. I like that these are longer stories, not a huge fan of the short ones. Nigel Hawthorne is great IF you turn the playback speed way down to at least .75 to have a normal pace. You will quite like his this way.

Keep with it
Nigel Hawthorne is only the reader for the first story ("Murder in the Mews") and it is a good thing. His Poirot is horrible and there were several times during the story that I thought about returning the book because of the reader.
Luckily, Hugh Fraser reads the other three stories in the book and is, as usual, awesome!

multiple stories embeded in this book.
I enjoyed the stories but while listening several times the finish of one detective story to the next was not clear. I wish you would put in something to indicate one story has ended and the next has begun. This is probably due to the fact that we are usually driving. and sometime mute when crossing the border or other reason. Maybe you could build in a loop at the end of a chapter when appropriate. This should be easy enough to code and would work with other stories. Remember, most of the time we are driving while listening to these audiobooks.
The strong English accent was usually good but when the voice actors got quiet it was hard to hear while driving.
