Publisher's summary

Thousands of years ago Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius wrote these meditations as a guide for his own self-improvement, and they're still relevant today.

Bedtime stories are narrated by the world’s most celebrated voices and written with no beginning, middle, or end so you don’t stay up to hear what happens next. They're interesting enough to give your mind something to focus on, but delivered in a way that encourages sleep.

This title is part of The Audible Sleep Collection, exclusive audio experiences created to invite relaxation and sleep. New and free for members.

Put me right to sleep

I have no idea what happened, I fell asleep in seconds. One day I’ll know what Aurelius said, but not today

Like a lecture you can’t endure

In a good way.

The Emperor’s forward applauds the Stoicism he sees in his parents, siblings, friends, etc. And the narrator pleasantly drones on and on and on. And on.

You won’t be awake for the conclusion. I dare you to stay awake for 10 mins.

unbelievable man

wealth of knowledge in extremely small bites. don't expect to be able to listen straight through and be wiser, this is a sit down and take notes kind of book.

Poor Narration

This man’s voice made it difficult (read:impossible) for me to concentrate on the material. The way he enunciates the “s” sound bothered the heck out of me. Shame, as Meditations is one of my favorites, and I looked forward to hearing this spin on such a classic.

Just a Taste as a Bedtime Story

Narrator’s tone is meant to promote sleep. Since it worked, I’ll now read the book on Apple.

Restful

Beautifully narrated selection from The Meditations of Marcus Aurelius. One of my favourite bedtime listens and a fascinating glimpse into Marcus Aurelius' philosophical musings.

It put me to sleep.

Of course, that was the whole point, so it did its job. The narrator does a really good job. Not to much inflection, but not to monotone or robotic either. Perfect for falling asleep.
