Publisher's summary

Four set out, one is dead, another is barely holding it together. Still, in the face of tragedy, to save the modern world, Alexander Grant is more determined than ever to stop Elam Khai, Peter Kroll, and anyone else who stands in his way. Having lived over 1500 years, our teenage hero knows a bit about history. But as much as he’s trained, seen, and experienced, nothing has prepared him for what he’s about to face.

In this third installment in the Battle for Forever series, League of Auld, the stakes are higher, and the action more intense as Alexander, Phoebe, and Renika, along with their band of misfits, confront some of the deadliest warriors the world has ever known. This edge of your seat adventure follows Alexander and his companions as they journey through a dangerous landscape where it seems everyone is after them. To stop the sinister plot designed to protect the future for a select few, they form new allies, face old foes, and uncover a shocking truth.

Humor, action, and history collide in this pulse-pounding penultimate book in the BFF saga where Alexander will have to lose everything if he is to have any chance at all to win the Battle For Forever.

The wait is over

It definitely took me a while to get use to Ray Porter’s voice after Wil Wheaton narrated the first two books. Most of my questions were answered in this book. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I have new questions. Can’t wait for book 4.

I really enjoyed this book

There are moments where I laughed out loud, much to the dismay of ppl who couldn't see my earphones. This was such a good listen. I have already recommended the series to other people based on this book. I liked the 1st two. This one I loved.

Talented storyteller

A masterpiece of a story. And Ray Porter’s voice work is once again outstanding. Eagerly awaiting the next release.

Entertaining

A fun fast paced story. It took me a few minutes to get over the switch from Wil Wheaton as a reader but I quickly settled into the new reader who is very good as well.

good reader, wrong book for him

the reader did a good job, but I liked wil Wheaton's reading better. I hope book four is better than this one, I loved books 1+2, this one was good not great. it honestly maybe because the voice didn't match the characters anymore, maybe ya'll should rerecord with mr. Wheaton, that may help.

Just ok

This book was just OK. I do wish they would’ve waited and had Will Wheaton narrate. I tend to zone out with this narrator.

Loved the first 2 - struggled with this

First of all, I love the original reader, Wil Wheaton - but Ray Porter is my second favorite reader of all time - so this wasn't a disappointment. I loved the first 2 books and listened to them both in 2019 when they were released. But that was 4 years ago and I've listened to over 100 books since then (many in this genre) - so while I remembered the plot, it was really hard to drop back in - my suggestion before reading / listening to this is to re-consume the first 2 before attempting this. And if you're new to Edward Savio there is absolutely no way you could start with this book and have any idea what it's about - unlike other series, having consumed the first 2 is an absolute requirement.

I found League of Auld to be very complicated - not just because I couldn't remember all the characters as clearly since the last time I read this in 2019 but there were so many old / new characters to keep track of, so much happening quickly all around the world - it was really hard to follow and I did not enjoy this as much as others. The main character Alexander has gotten extremely high-maintenance and whiney and I lost alot of connection with him from the earlier books. He would his dad, 10 seconds love him again, 10 seconds after than hate him again - over and over - it was confusing (to me) to remember how he felt about everyone given what seemed to be dramatic mood swings and an insistance to have the complete context of everything going on at any given moment..

Overall - was disappointed with this 3rd book but would definitely recommend reading if you're a fan of the first 2. Just reread them both before reading this one - it will help you appreciate this one more I think.

Savio at his best!

Seamless, exciting and true to form. Savio makes it worth the wait. With a narrator change that is surprising Ray Porter does well. Narrator needs to slow down in the beginning but has great talent in his dynamic and a wonderful ability to bring the excitement and intrigue to the story. A perfect example of great writing made this third book well worth the wait.

Very fun, as usual.

Really like this series. Took a bit to get used to the new narrator. But both are great. Highly recommend!
