Publisher's summary

When it comes to money, it pays to know yourself.

This is not just another money book. Personal finance expert Rachel Cruze brings an all-new approach to the traditional money rules, and it all starts with your mindset.

Go beyond the Ramsey Baby Steps and get to the root of all of your decisions - your mind, your behaviors, and your beliefs - so you can change your money mindset for good.

You may already know how to make the right money decisions, but you probably still find yourself slipping into impulse purchases, dipping into savings, disagreeing on your budget with your spouse, and wondering “Why did I do that?!” If so, this book is for you. Rachel Cruze explains the psychology, strengths, and challenges that come with each of her brand-new Seven Money Tendencies:

  • Saver or Spender
  • Nerd or Free Spirit
  • Experiences or Things
  • Quality or Quantity
  • Safety or Status
  • Abundance or Scarcity
  • Planned Giving or Spontaneous Giving

Along with discovering where you land on the scale of Seven Money Tendencies, this book also introduces new ways to understand how your parents, your fears, and your beliefs impact your money mindset.

You’ll learn:

  • Which of the Four Childhood Money Classrooms shaped your personality
  • How the Six Core Money Fears can drive your most common money mistakes
  • Why you handle money the way you do, and what to do about it

You don't have to white-knuckle your way toward financial freedom. This book will show you how to make taking control of your money so much easier (and fun).

The title of this book is perfect!

If you read the title of this book, you will have an idea of what it’s about. Some reviews are saying it’s not a money book. Rachel and Dave have many books on that, but this book is specifically on how you manage your money and why and where your original relationship with money stemmed from. This book is easy to follow and made plenty of sense. Some passages I already knew, but didn’t stop and think of why- and that’s the big take away here for the reader. I finished this book in 2 days and I think it’s a great supplement to learning how to have a healthy relationship with money- for myself as well as my child. A great gift for those you care about. Great job, Rachel!

I loved this book so much

I enjoy when the author reads their own book and this was no exception. The context is great and there’s not too much overt religious reference (I’m not religious) for me to deal with so that was good. Great thought provoking advice and self reflection tools.

Yes!

Rachel is smart, creative and down to earth. There are hard facts she openly talks about but lays no judgement or critical thoughts about said facts. It is worth the time to listen and the purchase! Well done Rachel!!

Excellent book!

I really enjoyed this book. Provided excellent points for understanding why we spend money the way that we do based on what we learn about money growing up and how that affects us as adults. Highly recommend!

Love story!

Rachel does an admirable job reading and it’s very well written, but I feel like the editing could have been better. There are several instances where it’s hard to tell when one sentence starts and another begins and vocal inflection is very inconsistent throughout. I know Rachel is capable of delivering these lines with the requisite passion, it just doesn’t come through here unfortunately. Otherwise this is a great listen, even with this minor complaint.
