He wakes up to a totaled car and a broken leg, facing down a goblin trying to spear him through the guts. And that's just the start of it. Sen never dreamed of ascension. Such were the aspirations of the rich young nobles, not orphans like him, scraping together a meager living on the streets of Orchard’s Reach. However, when destiny takes an unexpected turn, Sen finds himself thrust into the role of a cultivator’s disciple. Chosen over the nobles who once looked down on him, he is adopted into a makeshift family of three ancient cultivators, each with a lifetime of knowledge and insights. When they hanged mage Baron Homburg and his family for treason, they missed one of his sons. The fourth son, ten-year-old Dale, witnessed the execution of his family, and something inside him broke. Two things happened that day: one, Dale became a borderline sociopath, and two, his mage abilities manifested at almost full strength, especially his wood or forest magic. That night he used his new wood magic to hang the earl who ordered the killing of his family.

Randold, better known as Rand, was no ordinary individual. Despite his best efforts, he possessed an extraordinary secret—he was a Super. Well, technically speaking, he belonged to that exceptional group, but he concealed his true nature from the world. For Rand possessed a remarkable ability to manipulate all forms of energy, even the Superpowers of others, a power that, if discovered, would undoubtedly land him in dire trouble with the government. The consequences ranged from imprisonment to something far worse.

Instead, Drake got abducted, tossed into a fantasy world, and almost ritually executed by a pro-wrestler monk with performance issues. After stabbing his rather idiotic kidnapper to death, he magically inherits the old fart’s massive mansion, servants, mountains of gold, and deadly magic powers... which would be great if it also didn’t paint a giant target on his back.

I became a trucker to bring some travel and adventure into my days, but I never expected my classic rig would change my life so entirely. Then old Spitfire drove us through a mysterious portal to a cutthroat and perilous world. Here, women warriors are owned by backers and pitted against one another in high-stakes arenas, and they’re not just fighting for glory. They’re fighting for lots and lots of riches. The only way to get my hands on my fair share is to duel a backer, kill him, and gain all his women warriors and possessions.

I don’t know who I am. I only know what I need to be. I awoke in a tomb. I had nothing but a big sword and uncertain memories from uncertain lives. I was a great warrior who wandered this land before being killed by an ageless tyrant wizard-king. I was a warrior of a very different sort, who lived in a city of steel and glass.

Enjoyable, great slice of life moments and battles
This serious is a lot of fun. And I plan to go back from the beginning again sometime in the future…
I’ll update my review then.
Anyway, this book picks up after the last book not to long afterwards. Our MC, Verdant, is still getting used to his new place in life. And endeavoring to help the community around him while empowering them so they can rise up against the Whispering Death or whatever other group of bullies come to town. Seeking to take all they want while giving nothing in return. No matter what lies they spit!
I did enjoy Verdant’s growth in this one as he seems to truly rise out of his dark past and into his brighter future. One with friends and maybe even a love interest…
I hope the series continues! The narrators still give a great performance.

Great second book!
Really enjoying this series! And while at times I find myself grinding my teeth and mumbling that the MC need to get off good high horse and just get stuff done… it is also very understandable why he thinks and hesitates and has the doubts he does! Great narration, and Can’t wait for number 3!!
