Publisher's summary

“Luke” Hamilton has been living as a husband and father for the past 17 years. No one but her wife, Nora, knows she is not the man she appears to be. They have raised their daughters to become honest and hard-working young women, but even with their loving foundation, Amy and Nattie are hiding their own secrets.

Just as Luke sets out on a dangerous trip to Fort Boise, a newcomer arrives on the ranch - Rika Aaldenberg, who traveled to Oregon as a mail-order bride, hiding that she’s not the woman in the letters.

When hidden truths are revealed, will their lives and their family fall apart or will love keep them together?

Simply adorable

It is just as good as the first in it's own unique way. It's characters are still written with just as much love and care. I would definitely recommend it to anyone feeling a bit unsure in trusting a sequel.

Fantastic Sequel

The first book is better, but this one is very cute and another great read. I wish it was more dramatic, so much seems to be too cutesy and easy going.

Superb Story!

The second book in the Oregon series was absolutely superb. I loved getting to follow these c characters as they grow and evolve. Jae's writing is amazing and the narrator of the audiobook does a wonderful job bringing these characters to life and relaying their emotions throughout their journey. I'm so impressed with Jae's writing style and her ability to bring Oregon in the 1800s to life so vividly. Seeing the Hamilton family years after they make it to Oregon and how Amy and Nettie grow up into wonderful young women just makes my heart flutter. I highly recommend this wlw series to anyone. Jae does a wonderful job writing the complexities of these characters and this type of storyline. VERY IMPRESSED!

Why is Love so Complicated ?

Jae, this series was “off the Hook”. By far this was The Best Wild Western series in my Collection.
Off to my next Adventure.

WARNING! This is the second book in a series.

I'm giving that warning because I did this backwards myself! I didn't realize that this book and 'Hidden Truths' were a series, so I listened to them in reverse. Since I'm very familiar with the area that was being described during the story, I could relate to all of the physical challenges the wagon team experienced. Crossing the various rivers, that could become raging at times, the different types of land and environment and of course the Rocky and Blue Mountains!
In a way, I feel a kinship to Luke and the life she lived. Her defense of women against the mentality of men during the old west days was credible and honorable. The self-critical views she had about her body and they way she put forth a persona that would enable her to move freely among the men of the old west, well, I found that heroic to a point. That took a lot of guts and determination to survive. I have had my own personal experience with 'rescuing' a woman from prostitution, which is how I relate to Luke the most.
Nora was, in my mind, a courageous woman in her own right! Placing herself in a position of criticism and ridicule in order to survive still exists today. Perhaps not so much in a brothel, but there are plenty of women trying to survive on the streets.
This book is SO worth listening to and if you have any passion for what it takes to survive in life, you will be hooked!
I commend Jae (A German woman living in Germany) for writing this series!

Excellent sequel

I loved Backward to Oregon so snatched this up when I saw it on Audible. I was not disappointed. In fact, Jae never disappoints as an author. Her books are detailed and filled with insight into the emotions of her characters. Hayden Bishop also does an excellent job narrating the book. I listen to a lot of audio books, and I'm pretty picky about narrators. This is a title you don't want to miss.
