Tatanka warriors in cinematic splendor

Verily, I have partaken in the auditory delight that is the audiobook "Goldsby: Buffalo Soldier," a tale that hath ensnared my senses and spirit much akin to a well-forged musket's grip. The recounting of this saga, as penned by Georgianne Landy-Kordis and bestowed through the mellifluous voice of Abdallah Dahir, hath transported me back to the throes of our nation's dire conflict.

The chronicle unfurls around George, a bondman who, driven by loyalty and yearning for liberty, traverses the tumultuous path of war alongside his master. This narrative, borne from factual remembrances, hath woven itself into the fabric of my heart, evoking sentiments akin to the camaraderie forged amidst the battles. The resonance of George's odyssey hath left an indelible mark upon my being, akin to the imprint of a cavalry insignia upon a fresh recruit's uniform.

Rendered with masterful artistry, this tale finds its expression in the format of a screenplay, a remarkable choice that imparts an unparalleled sense of immediacy. Through this literary canvas, the tapestry of George's transformation unfolds, casting light upon his ascension to the echelons of the Buffalo Soldiers, a regiment of great distinction. This transformation, much like the turning of seasons on the battlefield, heralds new trials and unanticipated repercussions, akin to the echoes of canon fire in a valley.

As the yarn unspooled, I found myself swept upon a rollercoaster of emotions, traversing the breadth of human experience from the exultant heights of triumph to the shadowy abysses of adversity. The account, recounted through the lens of this screenplay, traverses the very range of sentiments that dance upon a soldier's heart. The playwright's skill lies in her ability to paint a vivid tableau, where courage and doubt, brotherhood and betrayal, hope and despair, all take center stage upon the canvas of war.

In a world where ink and parchment weave the threads of imagination, "Goldsby: Buffalo Soldier" stands as a monument of literary prowess. It hath granted me the privilege of vicariously marching alongside George and his compatriots, shouldering the burdens of their fight for freedom and witnessing the rise of a high-ranking Buffalo Soldier. Verily, this audiobook hath not merely entertained, but also educated, invoking the spirits of yore to whisper in my ear the tales of those who stood upon the precipice of history.

A story we all should hear!

At times upsetting, at times uplifting, but through it all so worth a listen, Goldsby: Buffalo Soldier is the fact based story of George, a slave who follows his master into the Civil War. Revealing any more of the story would be playing spoiler, but in a shining example of truth is stranger than fiction, believe me when I tell you that this story, THIS story, is full of heart wrenching twists and turns that I could not have predicted, nor did I see coming. This was not an easy listen. There were tears, shock, upset, uplift and resignation. When all is considered, in my opinion this story is not only a worthwhile listen, it is a NECESSARY listen. Brilliantly written in a screenplay format that allows one to clearly visualize the action as is happens, and brilliantly narrated, this is truly a story we all need to hear. George is not only a man I would have been proud to know, he is in this listeners opinion, a true hero. Five heartbreaking yet uplifting stars! This one deeply affected me and I’m sure I won’t be alone in that.
