Resumen del Editor

Montana Coggeshall, duke of Coggeshall, defeater of dungeons, he of far fewer intelligence points than is probably recommended, is finally ready to start building his dukedom. He just needs one more thing before he can leave Osterstadt: a few hardworking friends to join him on this adventure.

Well, and some lumber. And nails and whatnot. And enough food to get through the winter. And probably some more gold.

All Montana needs before he can leave Osterstadt are some friends, some building materials, food, and money.

But he did promise to retrieve some magic texts from a cemetery for Emmeline. And he really should try to help the lost little boy who keeps following him around. And all the undead in that basement crypt aren't going to re-kill themselves.

Maybe Montana's taken on a few too many side quests.

Amazing series

I love this series but.... I must say to be fair how come every LitRPG series has to make the hero so unbelievably stupid. It’s one thing to be naive or overly trustful but this guy would forget to breathe if Nikolai didn’t remind him.
It makes it hard to like someone on the low end of a 70 IQ who never learns .

Fantastic series.

What a great writer for this type of story. The best I have read. But I have not read a lot of LiTRPG books. Maybe 3 series. And this is the best of the three. And it is consitently good - each book is great.

This series is a riot!

I must say, this series is a lot of fun, and a good chunk of that fun is simply how well Neil Hellegers does at getting into character with the MC's inner monologue. I definitely eagerly look forward to the next book in the series coming out

The end of the road for me.

I am bummed as I was looking forward to a new series to binge but this book took a turn into a kind of jumbled mess in a lot of ways. First off I don't actually mind Montana being a "Fish out of water" but despite everyone knowing that he solely get berated for not knowing anything, literally no one, including the guy who is supposed to be his mentor actually teach him or guide him, ONLY point out what he is doing wrong. This got handled the slightest smidge later in the book when they talk about it but it barely changes in actuality.

On Montana being dumb, he isn't actually, he doesn't know or understand the world but the real issue is he lacks common sense, which given the live he lived on Earth should have some decent street smarts and be able to equate the nobility with the gangs he worked with so it comes across as if he is a giant toddler who literally knows nothing, one that everyone keeps snapping at for "doing the wrong things" despite the fact that he is fulfilling his job decently.

The two things that kind of killed the series for me is one: the author seems to just forget all sorts of things from the past, like the enormous amount of money that people from the explorers club supposedly paid for the left over fruits the former Duke sold, I recall 300 Platinum being one of the numbers (could be wrong on the amount) but then Montana only has the one chest for the original quest then blows it all. there are other small things but that's a huge one given a big plot point of this book is needing imperial coin.
Two: the last few books were fun otherworldly romps as a power fantasy, this one turned unpleasant, not that there needs to be fun and winning at every turn, but with all the hate and fear tossed at Montana as he literally saves and changes lives and does the impossible and his own journey just being miserable as a result it starts to feel more like torture porn where Montana will never get a break of any kind. I think it was a huge mistake to kill the Duke when the author did, even just a couple more days with Montana learning a bit about the plan and how to navigate things would have vastly improved things, he would still struggle but he wouldn't just be in the dark 100% of the time.

Also, he has told LITERALLY NO ONE that he now has royal blood, not the Duke before he died and not Nicholai, though given how he is treated ALL THE TIME, I can't say I blame him. The Otters are the MVPs in this series, they are actually his friends and followers, they joke with him but they are steadfast, loyal and willing to help however he needs.

I'll take a break and MAYBE come back to the series later, just not interested in a miserable adventure.

Can’t Stop Reading This Series

First off this series is addicting and fun. I can’t stop listening (4 books in 4 days so far)! It’s still funny if not more. Only one criticism, if you can call it that: Read the freakin letter Montana! I’ve been waiting 2 books!

Love it, but…

I enjoy this series quite a lot. It is quick paced with humor and humanity, emotion and adventure.
But each book costs a credit, and credits are (roughly) $10. So after 4 books, Ugland and Amazon have fleeced me for $40 for 32 hours of books.
I’m not interested in paying $100 for a story. Dude - write longer books. We can all name great novels that are 3 or 4 times the lengths of one of these. Only doling out what amount to chapters one at a time is a money making scheme, pure and simple. If the story takes 30 hours to tell, then tell it in one book and don’t make a periodical series out of it where we need to wait for “the next exciting episode!”
