Publisher's summary

Nursing a broken heart, Robbie Jordan is trading in her life on the West Coast for the rolling hills of Southern Indiana. After paying a visit to her Aunt Adele, she fell in love with the tiny town of South Lick. And when she spots a "for sale" sign on a rundown country store, she decides to snap it up and put her skills as a cook and a carpenter to use.

Everyone in town shows up for the grand reopening of Pans 'n Pancakes, but when the mayor's disagreeable assistant is found dead, Robbie realizes that not all press is good press. With all eyes on her, she'll have to summon her puzzle-solving skills to clear her name, unscramble the town's darkest secrets, and track down a cold-blooded killer - before she's the next to die.

Not sure I flipped for the story

Pretty good story, but not the best I've read or listened to. Might be awhile before I listen to the second one.

It was kinda boring

I’m want to like it. However the story was kinda boring and long for no reason. It also seemed that the story didn’t flow. Left me with a few questions at the end like the murders motive. What they said to the police and what they told Robbie was different. Also the romance triangle that they always put in these types of stories wasn’t needed in this book and it felt kinda of forced in this case almost an afterthought. I’m going to read the second book in hopes that the series gets better.

loose ends

The loose ends are not tied in the plot. The story ended prematurely. The narrator did a good job.

Had me Hooked til the End

Loved the story line and characters. Very interesting voice of characters. Kodos to the narrator. I will be reading the next book in the series.

What mama used to say

If you have to use swear words, it’s way past time for you to get yourself a dictionary and thesaurus to improve how to express yourself or make a point.
That and the excess or daily use of alcohol is never a good thing.
Narration was great.

Characters came alive.

I enjoyed the flow of the story. Reader of book flowed from one character to another effortlessly.

Voice was hard for me

Had a really hard time with the narrators voice. The character in the book was supposed to be younger but voice did not match. Very disconcerting. Had a hard time feeling like I could get lost in the story.

Tasty muredr

This is. A fantastic sweet and fun story of a young woman who 1st is way more than meets the eye also she decides to open up a sweet country dinner and because of that she seems to be in the cross hairs of some of the past she never even knew about. This is a fun story and I will be listening to the 2nd one as soon as I can.

Decent story, a bit disjointed

The story was decent. As other have said I struggled to get past the main character was supposed to be 27 but the narrator sounded like she was old enough to be the character’s mother. I did not mind spending time with the characters but parts of the story seemed disjointed, and last minute additions. An example of this is the romance.
