Publisher's summary

Sophie Winters nearly died. Twice.

The first time, she's 14, and escapes a near-fatal car accident with scars, a bum leg, and an addiction to Oxy that'll take years to kick.

The second time, she's 17, and it's no accident. Sophie and her best friend Mina are confronted by a masked man in the woods. Sophie survives, but Mina is not so lucky. When the cops deem Mina's murder a drug deal gone wrong, casting partial blame on Sophie, no one will believe the truth: Sophie has been clean for months, and it was Mina who led her into the woods that night for a meeting shrouded in mystery.

After a forced stint in rehab, Sophie returns home to a chilly new reality. Mina's brother won't speak to her, her parents fear she'll relapse, old friends have become enemies, and Sophie has to learn how to live without her other half. To make matters worse, no one is looking in the right places and Sophie must search for Mina's murderer on her own. But with every step, Sophie comes closer to revealing all: about herself, about Mina - and about the secret they shared.

Well, I’m crying

A great story with pitch-perfect narration. I expect to buy Sharpe’s work until the end of time.

Real and Relatable

Love this story. I was quite surprised on whom was responsible for all the chaos. I admire Sophie for her determination and drive, the friendship and love between the girls. How the her family reacts to it all. So real and relatable. It’s a must read/listen. The authors voice is nice and she delivers the story well as it develops. I’m pleased to say this one gets 2 thumbs up.

Suspenseful! It was hard to put down!

This Beek is awesome, it is fill of suspense, twists&turns, you NEVER saw coming. I absolutely LOVE the way the author goes from the present time, then the past. It flows seamlessly. I highly recommend this book, especially if you like suspense, todded in with crime & touching on addiction (in a way that speaks to me, when people assume things they are dead wrong about)
It's a touching story. There's love, hope and determination for the truth! This was a very well written, suspenseful, just an all around great read/listen... It definitely keeps your interest.

Great story and worth the READ but

I would recommend reading the actual book instead of listening. I never like leaving a negative review but I was really disappointed by the narration. There were parts that I wasn’t sure who was “talking.” The narration seemed to be muddled. Some words I wasn’t able to understand. There was no life/drama to the book with the narration. I usually adapt to the narrator but in this case I wanted to stop and read it for myself but I pushed through.
Now the story itself is AMAZING! I’m so excited to READ more by this author. If there were different narrators on her books then I would definitely be listening to them. Unfortunately with my schedule “reading” is not always an option so I’ll have to wait on her other books. Maybe the other would be released with a different narrator?
But this is all my own personal issue.
Either way I would highly recommend this book to anyone! It kept me interested and I couldn’t stop. I needed to know how it ended and I wasn’t disappointed.
Thanks for an amazing book Tess Sharpe!

Better book than audio

Tess Sharp is a better writer than narrator.

Grade: B-

Sophie is shipped off to rehab following her best friend Mina's murder in what her parents and police believe is a drug deal gone wrong, but she's been clean for months. Now after 90 days, she's released, determined to find Mina's killer. Unsure who she can trust, Sophie is willing to risk everything, including her life, to figure out what happened.

Debut writer Tess Sharpe has created a likable, determined character in our narrator, Sophie. Told in short chapters from the present, when she's seventeen back through high school he learn about her addiction to prescription drugs that develops after a car accident that leaves her permanently scarred, to her relationships to Mina and her brother Trev we glean insight into Sophie and also brief glimpses into the secondary characters. Sharpe has given Sophie a good unique voice, strong, yet wounded, haunted by the murder, but determined to stay clean and fight her fears to solve the mystery.

About halfway through FAR FROM YOU, I thought I had the mystery solved and became more convinced the more I read, but in the end, I was wrong and everything made sense. I like that the book had closure.

Themes: substance abuse, friendship, murder, mystery, bisexuality, lesbian

FAR FROM YOU is an enjoyable read. I never felt the pull to keep reading late into the night, and I felt
Ike I needed a lot of breaks. Not sure this is a book I'd read twice. This is a borrow, don't buy book.
