Publisher's summary

From the New York Times bestselling author of Black Edge comes an untold true short story about the meme stock machine phenomenon and the small investors’ battle to beat Wall Street at its own game.

After the 2008 financial crisis, investment banks and other professional investors had the edge when it came to bailouts and stock trading. The crisis also ushered in a wave of new small-scale retail investors who were hell-bent on crushing the big guys by using social media channels to connect, share ideas, promote stocks, and reap the rewards—Robin Hood-style. But did the meme short squeeze stand a chance in a rigged playing field? This concise, definitive account of a daring Wall Street heist exposes a fight to the death against a fraudulent system—dreamed up by Vegas, backed by hedge funds, and built by Silicon Valley—that cost real people more than they ever bet on.

Nicely done.

it put the pieces together of all the various entities involved in this event. The human interest aspect for individual traders was a nice touch. Enjoyed this listen.

Stock Story

This was a short story about GME stock shares and Robinhood trading and investing among the bigwigs of Wall Street. Things did not go well. Narration was good. Long and dull.

Cliff notes

Very summarized version of GME stonk revolt. Didn’t say anything I didn’t know and left some things out.

Incomplete and not objective

This is an odd "performance" and I cannot recommend it. I suppose the most salutory thing I can think to say is that if you are believe short selling is an evil plot by "wall street" to steal money from "average investors" then this is a tolerably well produced audiobook that will support your bias. If you believe "meme stocks" are nutty phenomenon driven by crazy people who should not be allowed to trade, you too can find support for your bias here, as you will be listening through different ears. The truth is, as usual, much more complicated. If you don't really understand short-selling don't expect to be objectively educated here. If an audiobook is neither enlightening or entertaining, why bother? From the very few reviews, it appears few did. Good choice.
