Publisher's summary

Confronted with uncertainty in the aftermath of war, a legendary master restarts a whole new system.

General Glenaron gave up everything to stop the Beetle Queen’s invasion. He lost his wife, his youth, and his attachment to this world in a constant war that suddenly ends. His next cause is clear: Venture to the Cursed Valley and retire as a Warden Mage.

Unfortunately, the Cursed Valley is actually cursed, he has no gold, and politics plague him. The Dungeon Realms can help alleviate his burdens and aid in his goals. It’ll mean starting over from Level 1 and learning a whole new system, but he’ll do what needs to be done.

Fantastic Story

This was hands down one of the better LITRPG's I have listened to this year. I was thoroughly impressed with the story overall, the characters and their interactions, and the story world everything plays out in. If this story is truly over I think it ended perfectly, but if the author does decide to continue the story then I am 100% ready for more of this story.

Matt Hicks gave a phenomenal narration performance of this book.

a summary of a summary a nutshell good book

a master battle mage from one world descends into dungeon realms to relearn magic with a different system but takes the knowledge from one world to the other without dying and somehow becomes a god or the equivalent of one anyways. while also gaining a lost love the whole book in a nutshell it is really good you'll want to listen to it, hahaha you might fall asleep in it too still good.

Starting over.

I'm sure it's not just me, but I HATE starting over with most things.
You spend all this time building up a character or doing a job and then to go back to the beginning, or level one, almost makes me physically ill.
But to start over like this, in life; I'm not sure that would be such a bad thing.
To start over in life with the all your experiences remembered, would kinda be awesome.
I would definitely make different choices.
Great characters action and world.
I'm giving this book 7 out of 5 stars.

Check This One Out

Very interesting and definitely kept me entertained for the day. The story opens up in the prologue on the final battle with a bug queen. Turns out there's elves across the sea that could not get along with humanity. Some of them have magic but they also have the ability to summon these hive mind Queens who have drones of which some of them also have magic. Once the fight has concluded our hero’s contract with his nation's military has come to an end. He is now able to retire happy to have avenged his dead wife. The thing is that in this world if you use too much magic it ages you severely. Our main character looks like he's 60 but is actually in his 30s. Never fear for some time away will have him return to his appropriate look. His sister-in-law bids him farewell and heads back with the king. She is something of a free-spirited socialite who likes to hook up with whoever she wants while still remaining relevant. She'll be dodging the King's advances all the way home though perhaps the Queen’s maids might satisfy his lusts in her stead. That is all behind our hero who is retiring to the tail end of nowhere on a piece of land that nobody in their right mind would want. He does have to be careful because who in power would want to allow one of the most powerful mages to retire in the prime of his life despite his current afflictions to a part of the country where the King's authority is the weakest. So long as he keeps his head down he should be left alone, especially after a number of years have passed thereby proving that he doesn't intend to stir up any trouble. If it had not been for his past deeds along with some other mitigating factors, those in power likely would have had him assassinated before he got too far away from the last battlefield. His journey, however, is anything but peaceful. While he continues to heal, he still has the drive for the fight. He occasionally reflects on his lost love and the horrid way she died. He wants to do something good with his magic. Approximately halfway through the book, burden with a chaperone from the local government that he has turned on its head, he makes his way into a dungeon. The dungeon entity knows something about him that he doesn't know himself or something about those close to him that he wasn't previously aware of. I don't want to risk spoiling anything past that point so simply know that I do recommend this story. With that said, sometimes authors will stagger their audio and eBook releases. Sometimes there will be an indication of a sequel. As of the time of this review this book is all we've got. To that end I'd like to make a couple of recommendations for this author and the narrator who did a fantastic job. If you're looking for something a little lighter, I would recommend Han Yang’s “My Girlfriend Is A Sorceress From Another World.” Then for the narrator I would recommend “Rise of the Cheat Potion Maker.” Lastly, I'll just say well done to everybody who had a hand in bringing this story to us, the Audible listeners.

Han Yang

Han Yang does it again. Another great story. General Glenaron ifinds himself in a truly cursed valley. Losing everything and starting at level 1 he finds a way to make it work. Part of being a good commander is knowing when to tell your troops when to suck it up. The story also has trolls and who doesn't love trolls?!?

Neat beginning and end.

Good narration. Story was solid. MC likeable but the dead wife thing drag the story down for me. Especially since the MC seemed logical and progressive.
