Publisher's summary

Mitch Rapp returns to make a mortal enemy of Russia in this high-octane and up-to-the-minute installment in the #1 New York Times bestselling series from “one of the best thriller writers on the planet” (The Real Book Spy).

Mitch Rapp hates owing anyone a favor—especially when it’s the world’s most powerful crime lord. But when Damian Losa calls, Mitch is honor-bound to answer.

The Syrian government appears to have created a highly addictive new narcotic that it plans to distribute throughout Europe. It’s a major threat to Losa’s business and he’s determined to send someone to keep him on top by any means necessary.

Rapp is the perfect choice for the mission. Not only does he have extensive experience operating in the Middle East, but he’s also entirely expendable.

As he crosses into war-torn Syria, Rapp quickly discovers a shocking truth. The new drug isn’t being produced by Damascus to prop up the government’s collapsing finances. Instead, it was created by Russia’s asymmetrical warfare unit, not for profit but as a weapon against the West.

With far more than Damian Losa’s interests at stake, Rapp devises a desperate plan that forces him and his team onto a battlefield where the United States is virtually powerless and allegiances shift almost hourly. Further, if Russia uncovers their plot, it will set off a confrontation between the two countries that could change the course of human history.

Just ok

This is a disappointing book. I have listened to all of the Vince
Flynn novels and they have been great! Not having
George Guidall as the narrator was a disappointment as he was THE voice of Mitch Rapp. In fact I may skip the next book
altogether for the first time ever. Also, the story didn’t have anything new in it. I realize it’s hard to write something original after so many books have been written but the story sounded tired to me. Kyle Mills has been great up to now.

Narrator isn't for Mitch Rapp

Its hard to pay attention to the story with this narrator. This might be my last Rapp novel if he's permanent.

where's George?

No idea why writers change the narrator. I couldn't get into it. Very disappointed

Sad for Mills

Unlike other reviewers, I enjoyed Kyle Mills and am quite apprehensive about a new writer. But the thing that was most difficult about this book was the absence of George Guidell. I don’t know why he didn’t narrate this book but he was SORELY missed. Weber has his gifts, particularly in doing accent of Spanish and Russian and even Arabic, but the central character is Mitch Rapp and the grittiness of Rapp’s edge was definitely missing. Weber grew on me but he is no GG. As for the story, I liked that I was able to be with Mitch during most of the story for this one. The fact that he worked outside the United States’ authority for the bulk of the story was intriguing. But I have to say, the unanswered element that had better be in the next book is the betrayal from Washington in the opening scene. It HAS to see the light of day sooner than later. Great end Kyle. I will find you in your own series.

Awesome as always

I can't believe this is the last of Mitch Rapp. I always looked forward to the next book. Thank you Skype mills for keeping it going as long as you did.

Not The Narrator’s Fault That He’s Not George

Steven Weber’s biggest flaw is simply not being George Guidall. Other than that, he did a fine job. Complaints about it not being Mitch…this is a work of fiction, for those who seem to have forgotten. If we can use our imaginations to envision each book, and suspend our belief long enough to make it work in our minds, then surely we are capable of adapting that same mind to give this new voice some grace. I started the Rapp series with American Assassin and went on in a linear time manner from there. If memory serves, there have been two other narrators along the way, with Guidall being the third, so I was never set on him. I enjoy him more, but mostly because he was the constant, and did a great job.

If I had my pick, it would still have been George, but if a new narrator has everyone all upset, imagine what the new writer is going to do.

another great book in the series

only thing that I found lacking was the new narrator. Don't get me wrong, he did a great job. it's just I've become accustomed to George Guidall being the voice of Mitch Rapp!

What Happens Next With Mitch Rapp?

Another excellent Mitch Rapp book. I was surprised that I enjoyed the reading without George Guidall. Excellent read.
it is disconcerting that Kyle Mills said that this is his last Mitch Rapp book. is somebody else going to take over?

Good

This book was good, and narration was good. I think that all of this genre is becoming repetitive. At least w this author- the “insurgents” from the capital are not the new terrorists and it’s not propaganda.
