Publisher's summary
If you’re a human in a vampire’s world, nothing goes according to plan.
When a map to the mysterious fortune of notorious privateer Miguel Enríquez falls in the lap of Ben and Tenzin, only one of them is jumping at the opportunity. Tenzin can’t wait to search for a secret cache of gold. Ben, on the other hand, couldn’t be less excited.
All Ben knows about Puerto Rico is what he hears on the news and a few lingering memories of his human grandmother. Going back to his roots holds zero appeal for the carefully constructed man he’s become.
In the end, the lure of hidden gold can’t be denied.
Ben and Tenzin head to Puerto Rico where the immortal world is ruled by Los Tres, a trio of powerful vampires commanding the wind, the waves, and the mountains that make up this small island in the Caribbean.
To find Enríquez’s treasure, they’ll have to walk a fine line between flattery and secrecy. To leave the island might mean a bigger fight than either one of them foresaw.
Blood Apprentice is the second novel in the Elemental Legacy, a paranormal mystery series by Elizabeth Hunter, author of the Irin Chronicles.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. I struggled every day, looking to put something on the table, but it was my life, and no one had a right to take it. Especially not Eris Lanyer, lord of the city, the very same who was supposed to keep people such as myself safe! The nobleman killed me without a second thought for the sole purpose of testing the blade he had just acquired! So here I am, burning with such a rage at this flagrant lack of justice. My hate is so immense that I'm unable to pass to the afterlife, and so I return as a Revenant.

Now she and her two best friends are seeing things that belong in a fantasy novel. Ghosts. Visions. Omens of doom. Nothing that belongs in the peaceful mountain town they call home. Added to that, Robin’s marriage is on the rocks, her grandmother’s health is failing, her mother is driving away the customers at her shop, her teenage daughter refuses to get her driver’s license, and her left knee aches every darn morning.

Can't wait for the next book!
This is a great spin-off series from the original world the author built. The characters are easy to get invested in and you want to learn more about their stories and where they will go next. It's a realistic take on what today's world would be like if there were immortals among us. I can't wait to see what Ben and Tenzin will get up to next!!

Entertaining
Ben & Tenzin travel for another treasure hunt. We learn more about Ben’s tumultuous upbringing and a relationship that I hope continues to bloom moves one more step forward before cold feet makes one of the partners run. Love these two and want more!!! The narrator did a great job!

An exciting installment in the series
This was a fun book! I think this one was a little more exciting that the others so far, as there's less politics in it and more just mystery and intrigue.
The narrator is still awesome!
