Publisher's summary

From the author of the bestselling Liz Talbot Mystery Series comes a novel about family and secrets, and the lengths we’ll go to in order to protect both.

Can this charming do-gooder carry the day?

Charleston, SC. Hadley Cooper has a big heart. So when the easygoing private investigator gets a request from a new friend to stake out her husband’s extramarital activities, she immediately begins surveillance. And when her client is discovered dead on her kitchen floor, the Southern spitfire is certain the cheater is the culprit … even though he has the perfect alibi: Hadley herself. Flustered since she observed the cad four hours away in Greenville at the time of the murder, the determined PI desperately searches for clues to tie him to the crime. But when her ex-boyfriend, who happens to be the lead detective on the case, arrests a handy suspect, Hadley fears a guilty man is about to walk free. Can this Palmetto State sleuth make an impossible connection to prevent a miscarriage of justice? With dry wit and delightful dialogue, Susan M. Boyer delivers an eccentric, vegan gumshoe sure to appeal to any fan of Southern women’s fiction. With her merry band of sassy friends, Hadley Cooper is a Lowcountry detective you won’t soon forget. Big Trouble on Sullivan’s Island is the engaging first book in the Carolina Tales series. If you like strong heroines, quirky sisterhoods, and plenty of Southern charm, then you’ll love Susan M. Boyer’s wonderful whodunit.

Loved it!

This is a great mystery that keeps you guessing. I thoroughly enjoyed how clean the writing was and that I did not have to stop listening when my Littles were in the car. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Boyer’s Best Yet!

What a fantastic read. I thought I was in love with Susan Boyer’s writing with her Low Country Series, but this one tops those in my opinion. And that is setting the bar high. As with the Low Country Series, the female lead is, are you ready for it? Intelligent. So many times writers make the female lead to be bubble headed and can’t find her way out of a paper sack. Yes, she struggles with relationships with her ex and her father, but not to the point where she needs someone to rescue her from herself. Thank you for writing women as they should be written. As for the story, it was compelling, mysterious, suspenseful. It had surprises built in throughout the book, which was also a bonus. Susan’s descriptions of Sullivan Island its surroundings puts you right in the story. If you are a fan of Susan Boyer, do not miss this gem.

Looking Forward to Book 2

I enjoyed this book and the reader and look forward to the next book in this new series. I liked the Low Country series but this is better. My only complaint is all of the to-do about her being vegan and what she had to eat at every stop. That part was not necessary and didn't contribute anything at all to the story. Other than that - it was a winner. Sometimes it's fun to listen to
or read a light mystery.

Depth of characters and I love the humor and lack of swear words!

There was so many wonderful characteristics that I loved about this book! I have not read a better book that I can recall! The only downside is that there are not more in a series.

A fun adventure

Interesting tale of a PI and several cases. Twists and turns. The how does it happen was interesting. Cast of characters are typical, eclectic southern. I do look forward to the next in the series.

Excellent book

This was a great read! I thought I would miss the Stella Maris characters but this is even better because it’s referring to real places and landmarks. I especially like the Audible version because finally there is a narrator who is able to correctly pronounce the Charleston names. I am really happy to have Greenville SC be a part of this book, as at least a 5th generation Greenvillian.
