Women were there. For centuries, discussions of early Christianity have focused on male leaders in the church. But there is ample evidence right in the New Testament that women were actively involved in ministry, at the frontier of the gospel mission, and as respected leaders. Nijay Gupta calls us to bring these women out of the shadows by shining light on their many inspiring contributions to the planting, growth, and health of the first Christian churches.

Story
In Grief is Love, author Marisa Renee Lee reveals that healing does not mean moving on after losing a loved one—healing means learning to acknowledge and create space for your grief. It is about learning to love the one you lost with the same depth, passion, joy, and commitment you did when they were alive, perhaps even more. She guides you through the pain of grief—whether you’ve lost the person recently or long ago—and shows you what it looks like to honor your loss on your unique terms, and debunks the idea of a grief stages or timelines.

Publisher's summary
Read by the author.
"A heartfelt invitation for grieving readers...An excellent resource for those working their way through loss."—Publishers Weekly, Starred Review
Veteran hospital chaplain to the sick, dying, and bereaved, J.S. Park offers you both the permission and the process for how to grieve and heal at your own pace.
In As Long As You Need, J.S. offers an honest and unrushed engagement with grief, decoding four types of grieving—spiritual, mental, physical, and relational—and offering compassionate self-care and soul-care along the way.
If you are struggling to process loss, pain, or grief from the last few years or the last few minutes, J.S. is an experienced and deeply empathetic listener and grief catcher who has held the pain and questions of thousands of patients. While social and cultural narratives about grief are dominated by "letting go, moving on, or turning the page" in his nearly decade of service as a chaplain at a major hospital with a designated level one trauma center J.S. understands firsthand how rushing or suppressing grief only adds a suffocating layer of pain on top of the original wound.
From his unique window into the stories of the ill, injured, dying, and their families, J.S. offers you:
- Permission to dismantle all too common myths about grief and replace them with a guilt-free and unrushed approach to navigating your losses.
- Encouragement for how entering grief, rather than avoiding it, leads to a hard but meaningful holding of your loss.
- Empathy and hope if you are struggling with a crisis of faith in the midst of grief.
- Recognition that grief spans a wide narrative of loss: loss of future, faith, mental health, worth, autonomy, connection, and loved ones.
- Affirmation that your grief is your own. While the DNA of grief might be universal to the human condition, how you experience and process grief is unique to you.
From the ER to deliveries to deathbeds across every sort of illness and injury imaginable, J.S. Park has provided meaningful counseling for people in all walks of life and death. Now, through his book he wants to assure you that, while everybody else might rush past your pain, grief is the voice that says, take as long as you need.

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Turning the other cheek does not mean standing by while the enemies of God dismantle Christian civilization and brainwash our children. Decrying the cowardice that masquerades as meekness, Eric Metaxas summons the Church to battle. An attenuated and unbiblical “faith” based on what Bonhoeffer called “cheap grace” has sapped the spiritual vitality of millions of Americans. Paying lip service to an insipid “evangelism,” they shrink from combating the evils of our time. Metaxas refutes the pernicious lie that fighting evil politicizes Christianity.

The book of Enoch was thought to be lost for over 2,000 years until, in 1773, a traveller brought three copies back from Ethiopia. Whether or not this ancient book was actually authored by Enoch, the father of Methuselah and great-grandfather of Noah, is an ongoing debate among historians and theologians. But all recognise the book of Enoch as one of the most important apocalyptic works outside of the Bible.

Story
As a hospital chaplain, J.S. Park encountered hundreds of patients at the edge of life and death, listening as they urgently shared their stories, confessions, and final words. J.S. began to identify patterns in his patients’ lives — patterns he also saw in his own life. He began to see that the events and traumas we experience throughout life become deafening voices that remain within us, even when the events are far in the past.

In stories of love and loss, of trauma and hope, told from care homes, living rooms, classrooms and kitchens, All the Lonely People is an intimate portrait of loneliness. Over countless cups of tea, psychologist Dr Sam Carr has collected hours of conversations with people young and old, including single parents, carers, teenagers and the bereaved, and found that while each of their stories is utterly unique, they are all born out of the same desire for human connection.

Story
This Too Shall Last offers an antidote to our cultural idolatry of effort and ease. Through personal story and insights from neuroscience and theology, Ramsey invites us to let our tears become lenses of the wonder that before God ever rescues us, he stands in solidarity with us. We are all mid-story in circumstances we did not choose, wondering when our hard things will end and where grace will come if they don’t. We don't need to make suffering a before-and-after story.

The pain that happened to you is real . . . and it matters immensely. The notion of healing what you can’t erase is not about ignoring the devastation of your past or putting a glossy, positive spin on current tragedy. That plastic version of faith isn’t actually faith; it’s unbelief. Healing What You Can’t Erase offers a far better solution—a road map for moving forward through the losses and scars by allowing the power of the Holy Spirit to transform us . . . spirit, soul, and body.

Story
In an increasingly fast-paced world, equally fast decision-making skills are seen as a strength. When we are constantly presented with so many options to choose from, a quick and dirty decision doesn't always seem like a bad thing. When it comes to things we don't like in friends, family, work, or relationships we are often fast to judge and label them as red flags. What we don't realise, however, is that this mindset is causing us to lose our ability to manage difficult situations.

You “should” be content, but you feel lonely or unfulfilled. You “should” have faith, but you feel discouraged by unanswered prayers. We want to do so many things—good, godly things—but our situations don't allow us to step into them. Are we missing out on our own lives? Why does right now seem so far from where we really long to be? Bestselling author Ruth Chou Simons reminds us that it's okay to not like the right now we've been given, but we don't have to like it to lean in.

Such admiration for JS Park. His vulnerability and storytelling skills are so graceful. My experience as a trauma survivor, cptsd and a hospice nurse I was totally attracted to the material and it far exceeded my hopes.

Remarkable. Transparent. Hope giving.
Wow. I felt as though I was in this long conversation with Jun, where he told vulnerable and personal stories that helped give me perspective on how I handle or not handle my grief. I appreciate the title advisement. I was able to ask myself if I was ready for this "next chapter", pun intended. I felt Jun showed the utmost respect for our boundaries by adding this in the book. That being said, I had to skip the chapter-after starting it- that dove into racism. My body scan told me I wasn't ready yet. I hope to go back and listen over the summer. I felt as though the book ended so fast. I was definitely wanting to hear more. So let's get part two going Jun! There's one thing I have learned in experiencing trauma: we have to keep talking about it, keep telling others. I believe this is just one take away with this book, a loose paraphrasing here, "It's OK to take your loved one with you. You do this by talking about them, remembering them in real life, not just in your head. You do not get over them. Take your time. It's a process." Oh yeah, and part of the reality is, we are grieving "misopportunities" or "future opportunities with that loved one".

Incredibly depressing
I heard the author interviewed on a podcast & thought this book would help me come alongside people experiencing grief. It did not. It offers so much sadness & darkness & little hope.
