Geoffrey Lushington, Mayor of Marlow, dies suddenly during a Town Council meeting. When traces of aconite—also known as the queen of poisons—are found in his coffee cup, the police realize he was murdered. But who did it? And why? The police bring Judith, Suzie and Becks in to investigate as Civilian Advisors right from the start, so they have free rein to interview suspects and follow the evidence to their heart’s content, which is perfect because Judith has no time for rules and standard procedure. Twenty-six-year-old Beatrice Hyde-Clare is far too shy to investigate the suspicious death of a fellow guest in the Lake District. A spinster who lives on the sufferance of her relatives, she would certainly not presume to search the rooms of her host's son and his friend looking for evidence. Reared in the twin virtues of deference and docility, she would absolutely never think to question the imperious Duke of Kesgrave about anything, let alone how he chose to represent the incident to the local constable. And yet that's exactly what she does.

Publisher's summary
Dr Nell Ward is in the lush, emerald hills of Ireland, to attend the wedding of two dear friends at a picture-perfect farmhouse.
But family tensions are running high in the days before the happy couple tie the knot. And when Nell sees a fox kill a hare in the early morning light, it sends shivers down her spine. Almost like it is a sign of something to come...
Then one of the locals makes a gruesome discovery in a nearby peat bog. Famous for the ancient bodies these habitats preserve, what has been found instead is a woman who died much more recently...
Nell and her friends are suddenly in the middle of another murder case. Can they hunt down the killer and save the wedding, before it is too late?
An absolutely gripping cozy mystery to curl up with. Perfect for fans of Richard Oman, Robert Thorogood and Janice Hallett.

constitant attention to detail throughout the series makes us such an enjoyable lesson.
just to finish the fifth book of the series and it's not disappointed. this has become a family favorite series to listen to and I love round trips. The attention to detail is wonderful. makes listening very engaging. as a family, we debate back and forth who we think may be responsible by our suspects of each and every book vz we each think we figured it out. this series always keeps us doesn't. list of loves all the scientific detail and knowledge that is given. very engaging can't wait for the next book
